“13.9% of respondents said they had been polled on politics previously. Of those, 18.4% said they lied on a previous poll.”

Well, that data’s not very trustworthy then, is it?

No, it’s not. Here’s how the math works:

      13.9% < 18.4%

Since 18% is greater than 14%, it follows that it’s impossible for 18% of 14% to have lied on the original poll. No sample size is big enough to accomodate. It is a practical, and mathmatical, impossibility.

Never underestimate the idiocy of the American Public.

I think you’re misinterpreting. As I understand it 13.9% have taken a poll (any poll) before. Of that 13.9%, 18.4% admit to lying. That is, 2.6% of the total sample (.139 * .184 = .026) are liars and therefore unreliable data.

      (Edited for math)

And in other polls out today, Americans are asssholes!!

The survey found that 53 percent of Americans say the president’s plan should be halted, while 11 percent would allow Syrian Christians only. Twenty-eight percent say the program should continue without religious screening.

Ugh. We have so much more work to do than even I thought.

According to most socio-economists, the US needs about 11 million Syrians and about 65 million Africans to achieve equilibrium. What’s kind of strange is that they say we have enough Mexicans. I think that’s where they get the 11 million number for Syrian Immigrants though, and if that’s the case then if we take in more Syrians we could use some more Mexicans as well. I just know it’s a 1:1 ratio between the Syrians and Mexicans. Need a lot more Africans regardless.

Either I’ve insulated myself from the batshitcrazy people I know, or this is completely a generational thing, because I’ve barely seen a single person I know come out against the refugees. Sure, there are idiots on here, or responding to newspaper articles, but even the “conservative” friends and family that I have are horrified by this anti-humanitarian bullshit by Republicans.

So who are these 53%, Olds?

Nearly 75% of Americans believe in angels and about 25% believe that the Bible is the literal word of God and a literal account of those times. I think the issue of the idiocy of the American people has been resolved in the affirmative even prior to this new poll. But it does beg the question how the pollsters could believe the responses of those who admitted lying on a prior poll. Perhaps we have identified the even greater idiots here.

Also, research finds that 50% of Americans have below-average intelligence.

That number seems high. Or is it low?

This stat actually makes me feel much better about the American public. Lying to strangers for no reason is fun.
