I don’t know where else to put this, so i’ll just put it here.

Have i missed the article on Gawker about Gawkers upcoming change in focus? It seems like a pretty important thing to get in front of, especially since the beans have already been spilled.

It’s not JK’s fault since it doesn’t seem like staffers made the decision “not to talk about Gawker on Gawker”, but going on about some whatever story about Conde Nast when there’s a HUGE FUCKING STORY about Gawker out there is just ridiculous.

“Brazenly contemptuous of press freedom” is a good short-hand descripton of English courts in general.

Well, I think it’s fairly safe to say that while both the US and the UK enshrine freedom of the press in their laws, they interpret what that means very differently. For example, you can say mean things about other people in the US press that would be actionable in the UK, or you can mention brand names, even on public television, without having to follow that up with language about how other brands exist and are just as good, to keep anybody from thinking that the mention counts as advertising.

      I think you mean ‘anarchic’.

      ...and it’s derived from ‘anarchy’

This is one of those stories where no one involved is particularly sympathetic.

I dunno about other people around here, but as an Ignorant American™, I would be afraid to publish anything controversial in England at all, regardless of sources or whatever.

Chilling effect? My lips’d be zipped as tight as a windbreaker.

Yet no news of Details folding (even with Dan Peres’ hysterical “I’m not out of a job” speech in WWD) or loss of Self?

        WHAT HAS GAWKER BECOME?!
