      Could have been men too. We don’t know. Magic Johnson was rumored to have had plenty of gay sex prior to his diagnosis. I wouldn’t doubt Sheen traveled down the same path. No pun intended. Major players in entertainment get bored easily. Led Zeppelin supposedly has some crazy stories as well.

    We saw this blind item, and Sheen was my husband’s first guess. I wasn’t sure since it said the person was an A-lister and Sheen doesn’t fit that for me, though I guess he is.

    I feel bad for the countless women he has likely infected. I hope they used condoms...but who am I kidding.

      Yeah, the A-lister thing really threw me off. Also, there was something in the blind about how the person in question was worried about how an HIV diagnosis would affect his legacy. And Charlie Sheen’s only real legacy anymore is as a dirtbag so I figured it couldn’t be him.

    As a person living with HIV, I’m worried about this all around. I’m disgusted by the comments and jokes I’m already seeing (including on the comment section here). I’m terrified that Sheen’s high-profile lack of media savvy and personal discipline will only fan the flames of stigma and HIV-shaming. I’m angry at the sudden calls for further criminalization and surveillance of HIV+ people.

    Hopefully, we can get the conversation back to effective and accessible treatment, practical prevention methods, and fighting against stigma and fear wherever it stands. As this story moves from the tabloids to the mainstream, please join me in asking for compassion, dignity and facts.

    Knowledge is power. Silence=death. Cruelty, paranoia, and stigmatization of this issue will only lead to more silence.

      As someone who lost loved ones to AIDS complications in the early 90s, I totally agree. I remember when society was kicking HIV positive people out of their apartments and schools out of the unfounded fear of spreading it through normal bodily contact. However, if he is knowingly spreading HIV to unsuspecting women/men, then his disease must be made public. If he is doing that, he is a risk to public safety and should be prosecuted.

      I’m calling troll.

      First, there is no “stigma and HIV-shaming” here...I see many rational posts and all the outrage is directed at Sheen for **intentionally spreading** the disease, not just the status of having it.

      Repeat: it’s because he spread HIV knowingly, not just his status

      but I think you know this and are just trolling...your comment doesn’t seem genuine

      the HIV positive people I know are more mature, wise, and accurate when discussing the disease and would not take such a redutive, one sided position as you take
