I know it shouldn’t be surprising but the hypocrisy over this is mind blowing. They made such a big deal over questioning where Obama was born. And it shows that the whole time they knew, they fucking knew, that the Constitution didn’t have any requirement for being born on US soil.

The whole birther thing was straight up fraud. And their base doesn’t care at all.

Yeah, I know. But they tried to claim that was a lie. When, even if it was, wouldn’t have mattered. He was a natural born citizen of the US through his mom no matter where he was born. Just like Cruz.

“Why do the circumstances of Cruz’s birth meet with King’s approval when Obama’s didn’t?”

I’m just spitballin’ here, but do you think that it’s because Cruz could pass for white? Both Cruz and Obama are partly Caucasian, but one of them is a lot less...uh...swarthy. Personally, I prefer my racists to be as blatant as possible so I know who to avoid like the plague.

It’s the “brilliance” of dropping Rafael and going by “Ted” that has helped him. “Rafael Cruz” would have been forced out of this primary months ago.

I think the (R) after Cruz’s name when talking about politics has a lot more to do with it than skin tone.

These people don’t wrap themselves in the American flag. They wrap themselves in cognitive dissonance. And it is smothering them.

How do they justify the first few years of Obama’s presidency, calling him illegitimate, by then putting up a candidate with an even worse claim to citizenship?

    Fucking crazy neocons.

More likely Cruz is a Republican, which means we know he loves ‘murica and Jesus. That’s why Ben Carson gets a pass on being black, since he’s Republican.

Living in the US changes people, man. A childhood friend’s family relocated to Georgia while both children were in high school. The kids, and whole family, were previously totally sane, normal, progressive, albeit uptight, average Canadians. Fast forward ten years and the friend and her brother both friended me on Facebook and I had to delete them because they are apparently now the sorts of people who out of the blue post shit on their Facebook about how all muslims must die. What. The. Actual. Fuck. They moved to the US as young adults, who were absolutely nothing like that, and appear to have been irretrievably damaged over a short period of time. Ted Cruz moved to the US at 4 years old. And from Alberta, which is just barely Canadian. Any ounce of Canadian-ness Cruz had left in him has been gone for decades.

It’s tough being constantly surrounded by concentrated stupid. I’ve been in Texas for eight years and am continually surprised by the dumfuckery that comes out of supposedly sane people’s mouths. I have a co-worker who moved down three years ago, and he’s drinking the R kool-aid mainline to the point that I openly mock him.

Oh, and fuck you for mocking the Canadian-ness of Alberta. If there’s anywhere that has the right to be pissed off to the point of Quebec, it’s Alberta for being constantly done dirty by the ROC.

Rafael Edward Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to a mother from Delaware and a Cuban father (who was not a U.S. citizen at the time, but would become one in 2005).

So, wait — does this mean Ted Cruz is one of those “anchor babies” I’ve heard so much about?
