    1. Muslin. MUSLIN. MUS. LIN.

    2. I say this as someone who loves Britain with her whole heart: fuck the fact that it's become somewhat socially acceptable to be a xenophobic twat over there. Fuck it. Fuck UKIP. Fuck this lady too.

It’s only socially acceptable among xenophobic twats and racists, I promise. The rest of us are appalled.

Honestly not sure how it's different in the UK compared to anywhere else. We have a sizeable group of outspoken racists in my bit of Canada. They feel no shame for some reason. I encounter this wherever I go. My husband and I even have to instruct my FIL not to use racist language re: refugees in front of the children. Which is funny considering he is an immigrant. Sigh.

I know this is a serious issue of racism but this reminds me so much of my sister’s husband’s ex, who is also a trashy half-wit. My sister showed me a message this dumb bitch put on Facebook; a picture with two men and herself with the caption “Minaj twat tonight, suckaz”

    Minaj.

    Twat.

She meant “ménage à trois” but she can’t spell and didn’t know it was a French phrase.

Boo on her being a bigot but boo on the arrest over her postings. Jesus, what kind of fascist act is that? For once, I like how they do it here in the US when it comes to people like her; bad mouth her on the internet and boycott her place until she goes bankrupt. No one should be arrested for posts like this. Shamed? Yes. Boycotted? Yes. Thrown in jail? No. It’s a damn slippery slope.

Thrown in jail? For racial discrimination? Hell yes.

We have laws against that shit and we’ll damn well use them.

“...I have been inundated with messages tonight as I said I would not book any muslin [sic] or Islamic client...”

Muslin, the most misunderstood of fabrics... Always being stereotyped as “evil.”

BTW, (for your information) a Muslim is someone who’s a follower of Islam.

That is a beautiful piece of fabric that you have chosen to show, indeed, as are all fabrics. I salute you. Muslin, Jute, Chintzianity, Silkh, Buddcloth, even Satin worshipping, are all part of a broader cloth.

I’m not sure why it wasn’t mentioned in the article but she also tweeted “I hope your families get blown up by ISIS”. Still not sure why being an asshole means you can be arrested though.

    What does ragga mean?

I’d far prefer someone coming into a place of business in muslin than cheap polyester!

I’m assuming (and this is paraphrasing since her post is somewhat illegible) that she is referring to a long-standing association with people of Afro-Caribbean lineage, or is possibly from the Caribbean herself, or has been associated with Caribbean community form the age of 5. Therefore she CAN’T be a racist because as we all know, if your skin colour is anything other than pasty-white, you must all be ‘Other’, and therefore you can’t be racist if you only like some ‘Other’s and not different ‘Other’s. Obviously.

I’m starting to get the idea that Bicester is a place of dichotomy: On the one hand you have the middle-England crazies, and on the other, the elitist designer-outlet-shopping snobs...

As an aside, I have a number of burning questions:

      1) How would this business owner have determined whether her clients were Muslin (as opposed to Cheesecloth)?

      2) In seriousness, how would she have determined whether a person is Islamic or not? Does she have a skin colour chart wherein everyone of Middle-eastern to Pakistani descent is, by default, a Muslim? What about converts? What about African Muslims from Central Africa? Does she ask them on the phone? Is she not aware that even in countries with a predominantly Muslim population, there are other sects and religions? Was she planning to hire a bouncer or doorman to quiz clients on their religious preferences?

      3) If ‘Sara Smith’ turned up in a Hijab, would she have been turned away at the door? What about elderly Betty from down the road in her 50’s style headscarf? What ‘defines’ a person as a Muslim according to this newly-bankrupt ex-business-owner?

I have been inundated with messages tonight as I said I would not book any muslin [sic] or Islamic client. I stand by that completely as a UK citizen. However those that want to call me a racialist. Think on. My life is with ragga and patowoire [sic— patois, maybe?] language with Trinidad has been since u was 5 growing up in Deptford. ANYONE else who wants to say something to me come to [address redacted]. Now let’s see how many back track!!!

“We have arrested a 43-year-old woman in Bicester today

Besides the obvious fact that she is obviously racist, can we talk about how this person is 43 and writes like that? Ugh.

In England you are only legally required to stay in education until age 16. And there’s a reason we refer to people who end their high school education as ‘leavers’ rather than ‘graduates.’
