Please Canada, don’t be that boyfriend who claims to not be like every other guy then ends up being like every other guy. You’re supposed to be better and nicer.

Having grown up there, I can tell you that it’s not. A deeply xenophobic place.

      How about Plagiarists?

This article is almost word for word ripped off from the Examiner article.

You mean the one they linked to? Amazing how that works on a website like Gawker.

PS - it isn’t plagiarism when you acknowledge the source, baka.

The people who did this are the pawns of Isis; the terrorists want moderate, peaceable Muslims to be targeted so they will become radicalized. This is how Isis can recruit the disaffected young uns to their cause. Come on Canada, we are better than this.

I’ve lived in this town. It is a university town mixed with a depressed blue collar industrial base that pretty hollowed out. It has historically been pretty damn white with a rural hinterland of farmers and the rural poor. Its what central Canadians call “hosers.” Basically it has a small contingent of racist, poor, xenophobes who may or may not be toting bibles. Add in beer and interesting pills and this is not unexpected. They are, however, a slim minority. Don’t go generalizing about this shit. A bunch of my friends are already down at the vigil supporting the mosque and last time this happened (9/11) local christian churches donated new windows.

It’s like the people who did this, think they struck a blow for freedom or something. When in reality, they have about as much impact as a severe ice storm. Eventually the police will figure out who did it. And then the true pathetic nature of these individuals will be obvious.

If they set up a GoFundMe, can you let us know? I’d send them a donation to get their mosque rebuilt.

I’m really glad to hear that they are happy with the police response. Feeling like the community doesn’t take something like this seriously just compounds the anxiety.

Looking forward to Gawker commentators being 10x more outraged about this than about the actual Paris attacks.

We have an issue with Sikhs blowing things up. They are usually the “Asshole” Ones. The Majority of them are the nicest folks you would ever meet! As a Brit in Canada and knowing many “Old School””Hey let us protect another religion” They are nice people. Worked with many, love them all. But there are the secondary hate every one (Not the Sikh way) That I will gladly put a hurt on. Blow up a plane, you cannot hide.

I think this person is referencing Canada’s worst act of terrorism, the bombing of an Air India flight by Sikh terrorists, in 1985.

Why they are referencing it, I have no idea.

The stated goal of ISIS is to remove the concept of a “gray area” between Muslims and non-Muslims.

So that all Muslims are seen as “ISIS” by non-Muslims, and all Muslims see themselves as more aligned (by circumstance) with ISIS rather than part of a larger diverse community of sane people.

It seems to be the goal of many in the West, too.
