      Thanks, girl. Just after I posted that my 15 year old daughter came downstairs and tearfully announced that a family friend had lost both parents and his god-mother (pretty much all he had in the world) in Paris, making Miley and Uncle Terry all the much more fucking gross. I appreciate the levity.

      And I still love (and am wearing) the shoes. *hugs*

    Any professional photographers here to enlighten me as to whether this guy’s some kind of genius or something? I don’t get why people work with him. To my untrained eye all his work looks like it could have been done by anyone who’s ever shot for Playboy. Or, hell, anyone who’s ever snapped a Polaroid nudie of their SO.

      I’m not a professional photographer, but I was an art history major.

      No, he isn’t a genius. He uses the flash on his camera and enjoys provocative poses amongst his models. This style of photography is very easy to replicate and to my understanding, he still has to do a lot of post-production editing.

      He is a commercial photographer.

      Honestly, I have always thought her sexy pics were disturbing because she looks so young still. She can’t help her slim body and the youthful look of her face so that’s not something I’m downing or talking against. It’s the fact that whoever is taking her pics is making her look intentionally exploited, like a sex slave or backpage adult worker being forced to do them.

      Yeah her body type and super young face don’t help at all. The faces she makes and poses she’s in look so disturbing to me. In these pictures, she looks like a 12 year old being forced to pose by a dirty pervert. It’s not sexy or sexual or avant garde at all. Ugh. Bleh.

    In some ways Miley Cyrus reminds me of Angelina Jolie when she was younger, with her knives and her blood necklace and the other attention-seeking, shocking things she did. Then something happened, probably the adoption of her first son, and she stopped engaging in those kind of antics. I'm not a big fan of hers, but at least she seems to have grown up. Maybe that will happen to Miley too.

      For some reason, Angelina Jolie then seemed more authentic than Miley now. For one thing, Jolie teased the public with hints of her wild child ways in interviews - you always felt there was more that she wasn’t telling. Meanwhile, Miley seems desperate to let you know just how wild and crazy she is. Maybe it’s Miley having to prove that she’s no longer a Disney kid, while Jolie didn’t have that baggage.

    No matter what she does Miley is just not going to be one of the cool kids. I wish she would just accept it and move on.

    Rihanna was no doubt born as cool as she is, nothing forced or artificial about her. We can’t bottle it, we can’t copy it. We can just sit back and admire it. Miley should too.

      And, as much as folks may think otherwise, Rihanna had a suitable transition in her image. She came out and it was more pop-y, feel-good music that was age appropriate with some edge. Her musical image didn’t start to take shape until the Umbrella album (don’t remember the name) and then that infamous DV situation. Miley just seems to be doing whatever for the express purpose of getting ANY attention, whereas Rihanna seems to be living her life and allowing folks to capture certain moments. That is the biggest difference with them, I think.

      The album is Good girl gone bad. Most stars who start out before they are 18 begin with a clean, cute image and then change once they turn 18 and are legally able to be presented in another way.

    Cyrus is young and still foolish and all over the place with how she expresses herself and what it means to be “independent”and an original thinker. As a result, she is just like everyone else.

    Richardson, pig that he is, loves performers and models this age, ..he swoops in on anyone going through their “edgy”, overtly sexual phase..Lady Gaga et al.

    I don’t know how he keeps this going, there are scores of people who have complained about him for decades. But his shoots still carry some kind of status for a lot of people.
