In this case, because the victim was a child and white and there is evidence of a personal conflict , the victim may (but only may!) get justice, but please don’t forget if any of those things were different the cops would certainly get away with this.

And now let's think about how many cops have gotten away with pre-meditated, cold-blooded murder over the years.

Yup. As we all know, until this shit starts effecting white people nothing is going to change. Hopefully this poor kid’s death will bring some change.

Marshals shouldn’t even have guns. The only quasi police power they have is serving arrest warrants. Take that away. Otherwise they are basically security guards and process servers.

God knows the police can’t be trusted to always act reasonably or not murderously. But this is like another step. They don’t receive even the training of a police officer.

We talk about militarization of the police. But there is also a move to policify many non-police functions, which is concerning.

Don’t they also track down fugitives? I don’t know, I got all my info from watching Justified.

I think that's the arrest warrant thing? I'm a little confused we don't have them in my state.

The police are the ones bringing these guys to justice. It seems like there was already interdepartmental friction, because the first day the real police were already making comments to the media saying doubt on the marshals’ stories.

We shouldn't have to rely on that kind of infighting for officers to investigate each other.

The problem is, police actually investigating other police is the exception, not the rule. Cops cover for other cops. That is bullshit. Fire them all, and start over. Its the only way to cure this cancer on our society.

      FUCK.

      ALL.

      COPS.

Damn, it’s like The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia. Except, you know, that the cop is the sister shooting the guy. OK, so it’s not really like that, but points for an obscure song reference?

Initial reports that Few had a warrant out for his arrest and/or backed his car into the marshals were quickly invalidated

Initial reports, like, we kind of think this is what happened — or like this is what the official police report said? There never seem to be charges brought for cops filing false reports, which should be obstruction of justice at a minimum.

That’s what I find confusing. Who released these “initial reports”? If it’s a police official, it should be investigated as a possible cover-up and obstruction of justice. There a huge gulf between “we don’t know all the facts yet” and “...uhhh...he had warrants and he was trying to run over police officers”. If it came from the two officers who committed these acts, throw on some additional charges. Throw everything that remotely applies at these guys.

I think that’s what the marshals told the cops? In which case they were just writing what the defendants told them.

Cops protect cops. But I am sure the cops hate the marshals acting like cops more than anyone. Not because of innocent life lost so much as turf war.

I think his father is still in a coma, last I read. I know this sounds monstrous, but I hope he dies without ever waking up or finding out that his kid was murdered. It is what I would want for myself in that situation.

        “Ambush.”

The word you are looking for is “ambush.”

“Shootout” implies that more than one side was armed.
