Cash n’ Carry replaces a guy who entered Princeton at 15 and has a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and was a professor at Stanford. The guy before that also had a PhD and was a professor at Columbia and worked for the Fed Bank of NY. Kashkari went to business school at Wharton and worked for Goldman for a few years. He seems qualified.

How did he get that job? Did he have cronies somewhere that got him considered and hired? Was everyone else qualified in the world too busy to do it? What? How does he keep failing upward?

Econ PhDs from U Chicago have fucked enough things up that I don’t think we need more Fed heads from that particular place.

In a radio interview I heard today, in response to a question regarding his complete lack of economist bona fides, he responded "The Fed has plenty of economists." The man is an idiot.

I tried the same line of argument when applying to be a starting pitcher for the Yankees (“you’ve already got a lot of guys who can (sorta) play ball”), but they didn’t seem convinced.

As a longstanding defender of the class interests of the high finance elite, and as an unreconstructed adherent of the ideology that created our new gilded age, Kashkari is the perfect person to be given an unelected position with authority over the nation’s monetary policy.

So in other words, there will be hell toupee with this guy?

I laughed. But then I remember that I paid to see this in theaters. That made me sad.

Surely you don’t mean to imply that our current economic system is rewarding someone who is less than worthy, do you?

Neil Barofsky made this guy sound terrible in his book, but made it clear that he was/is going to be running the fed someday soon.

That was Faran Tahir as Richard Robau, a much better, and more charming man than this person.
