Man, see, the nice thing about Keystone XL is that any source of oil that allows us to not care about the Middle East is a good thing.

The time has come to pack up our toys and go home. These people are perfectly capable of killing each other without our help.

Keystone wasn’t going to add anything to the US supply - the point of it was to ship tar sands oil directly from Alberta to New Orleans for export.

Meanwhile, the US gets so little of its supply from the Persian Gulf (see below chart from NPR), that if we stopped importing from there tomorrow, we could adequately make up the supply within NAFTA (increased domestic production; Mexican and Canadian imports). And as the US vehicle fleet moves to vastly more efficient cars and trucks, the demand shrinks.

Excellent news! I bet if we just elect a democrat rather than a war mongering republican, we’d be good to go with pulling out of the Middle East...

That’s absolutely terrible. I was fortunate enough to visit Amman twice as part of an educational development training course. It’s a wonderful city with a lot of really fantastic people. We stayed at the Sheraton; every time our car pulled up, armed security officers would do a quick bomb check on the undercarriage before moving the tire spikes out of the way. Entering the hotel required a pat down and a luggage check. Despite all that, I never felt I was in any danger and everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Plus, the Sheraton’s breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing and I enjoyed watching Armageddon with Arabic subtitles.

Seems like a disgruntled ex-employee. I was wondering if it might have been blowback from when Jordan executed the failed suicide bomber from the aforementioned hotel bombings rather than include her in a trade for the Jordanian pilot ISIS had and later murdered.

Sigh, if only they hadn’t been in a gun-free zone.

        Oh, wait...
