They should lock this guy up and throw away the key!

He is a disgrace to all the good cops out there. I hope other cops are willing to speak out against him during the trial!

It’s amazing how when something happens in or near your small hometown and finally reaches national news (this shit is crazy, I know), suddenly all the snarky comments just seem over the top, lazy, disconnected and soulless.

This guy was clearly a piece of shit, but it’s kind of a tragic story when you consider 1) the kids in the Explorers program, 2) this guys non-involved children (assuming the other three truly are innocent, but who knows), 3) the citizens of Fox Lake, who despite their conservative nature and over-zealous praise of police, I can’t help but feel sorry for how silly they probably feel right now. Literally every other car has a bumper sticker around here saying “End of Watch: GI Joe Gliniewicz 9-1-2015 #BlueLivesMatter.” I guess they deserve to be embarrassed, but it’s not like their heart was in the wrong place (at least not all of them).

I’m just observing, not judging since I’m absolutely guilty of this as much as anyone. I went to HS in Fox Lake about .5 miles from the scene. Joking about this guy’s haircut on every article just seems petty and childish.

So, what really matters in any news story is how close to you it happens?

Grew up next door (Ingleside) and still have relatives in the area.

While some of the outpouring of concern was likely genuine, a good deal was tinged with reactionary disdain borne for Black Lives Matter.

It is Hard to feel sorry for people who conflate being against disproportionate treatment of minorities with not wanting police officers killed on the job.

If they can embezzle money into this hero’s bank account for years and plant incriminating texts on his cell phone, who knows what else they’re capable of??? <INSERT WHITE PARANOIA>

      It’s pretty simple really.

      1. Start a youth organization in Fox Lake in 2008 or earlier.

      2. Get the cop to start stealing from the fund from 2008 to 2015.

      3. Wait until about June of this year to tip off his superiors.

      5. Form #BLM in the spring/summer of 2015 and just sit back and wait...

      It’s the perfect plan.

This story keeps getting better- it’s platinum plating on an already gilded lily.

The staged suicide (probably to beneifit his family with double indemnity insurance?) It would have been enough!

The hit on a municipal civil servant? It would have been enough!

The cocaine in his police station desk? It would have been enough!

So, as a cop, you can just text a "high-ranking gang member" for a hit? Like, nobody would think that was a sting operation?

Thousands of dollars were used for personal purchases, including adult websites, mortgage payments, travel expenses and a gym membership, officials said.

Friendly reminder of the “worthwhile” things (lol fucking adult sites, of course) he used his ill-gotten money that he threw his life away for and now, apparently, tried to get someone killed over. And I continue to wonder how people do this with no forethought of being caught eventually. Reminds me of the guy who killed the director of a nonprofit early this year after stealing money from it while he was working there. There’s no happy ending with these kinds of easily traceable crimes.

(Or crimes in general, usually, but god, especially shit that can link right back to you so easily)

I work in an organization (which shall remain nameless) of a kind that frequently sees embezzlement. My work involves a lot of reviewing financial records and reports regarding said embezzlement.

It’s really depressing to me to watch people spend other people’s money in the first place. It gets downright Lynchian (as in David Lynch) to see what they spend it on. It’s either so mundane, in which case it’s sad to see someone have to steal to buy formula, or it’s utterly baffling to see what they’ll spend it on. The more specific the information I have the more those two extremes collide.

He should get a posthumous award for community involvement. Gainful employment for gang members, recycling seized drugs—he had lots of great ideas.

    The radio conversation:

Gliniewicz: Quick! I need backup. I’ve been shot!!!

Dispatch: We got help on the way. Did you get a good look at the assailant?

Gliniewicz: Yes. I got a great eyes on the perp.

Dispatch: Ok. Just hold on. Help is almost there. What did the assailant look like? What should we be on the lookout for?

Gliniewicz: Do you know Anne Marrin? The assailant looked a lot like Anne Marrin. She was wearing a shirt that said ‘I’m Administer Anne Marrin.’ She also had coke on the left nostril of her Anne Marrin nose. I’m not saying it was Anne Marrin, but it looked just like that nosey cunt.
