    The US and Russia would do very well to co-ordinate their efforts and work together on destroying ISIL. Unfortunately, the logic of the American government seems to be that their distrust of Russia outweighs the potential value of any sort of alliance. I think this is a mistake, because I think their combined power could do very well if it was applied in a cooperative and systematic fashion. But the Cold War mentality of Russia as the grave threat still persists.

      More unfortunate is Russia’s incursion in Syria to date has focused far more on moderate Syrian opponents to Assad who control areas near the Russian naval base while ignoring ISIS which controls mostly areas in the East of Syria not strategically important to Russia or Assad for that matter.

    Daesh released an audio message today claiming again that they did it, but giving no evidence. They instead challenge people to prove they didn’t, and point out that this happened a year after Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis gave baya to Baghdadi, thereby officially tying themselves to Daesh and then calling themselves Wilayat Sina’ (Sinai Province—Daesh likes to change place names to provinces under their control). They say they will release actual evidence at some point in time. The title is ‘We downed it [the plane] so die in your rage’ [they love the expression die in your rage]. I haven’t listened to it myself, because I’ve heard and seen enough of their shit for a lifetime.

      I wouldn’t be surprised that, pampered as he certinly is, he has developed something of a paranoia disorder over the last couple of years.

      I like to think he has difficulty sleeping, even if it is only because he is worried about his shrinking power base and not his vile acts.

        Don’t ascribe to malice what can best be explained by incompetence.

        Keep in mind that these rat-fuckers (my personal term for them) are not as unified front as the branding makes it appear, so do not expect any coherent long-term strategy between the regions.
