You are singing the song of my people. I was in Target today looking for Thanksgiving (or, fuck, at least FALL-THEMED) decorations and shit for the upcoming holiday. I was specifically looking for fancy hand-towels for my guest bath, in case The Game wants to swing by and take some selfies.

Was there a single, solitary thing for me to buy? NO THERE WAS NOT. There wasn’t even any Hanukkah shit out, which enraged me further because come the fuck on, give us Chosen People some fucking shelf space.

I saw Thanksgiving decor at TJMaxx! There was about 1% as much as the Christmas decor, but it was there!

That’s where I’m headed tomorrow! TJMaxx is usually good about having stuff out for a little while. I’m not sure what I was expecting from Target. I shouldn’t have been so surprised. They had a row of Xmas shit out during back-to-school.

      In July.

I’m pretty upset about it. Thanksgiving is objectively the best holiday, and we’re blowing right past her.

Canada is huge with the “don’t start with Christmas until after November 11th” out of respect to Remembrance Day and our veterans. I am a Christmas loving freak but I can get behind it.

I love some Christmas music. My Pandora station is pretty fine-tuned. (I also threw in the Billie Holiday and Fred Astaire stations to break up the saccharine-ness of it.) But I’m ... kind of with you.

      I love Christmas.

I keep hoping that everyone I live with will leave the house few hours so I can sneak in Jingle All The Way or Jack Frost.

don’t take advantage of early sales on wrapping paper

Obvs, one buys discount wrapping paper in January, then you put it under your bed and forget about it for a year until you panic and accidentally buy more at the local drugstore or Target the week before X’mas. After a few years, you should have enough to begin wrapping everyone’s birthday gifts in X’mas paper.

Do kids still do wrapping paper sales? I remember those rolls lasting longer, and I feel like the paper was better quality, and a lot of the patterns were pretty, but I was the youngest of five, so no more wrapping paper sales in our house...

I went to the grocery store near my house (Meijers, MI represent) to buy Halloween decorations to put on our door to signal we had candy (a lot of folks in our neighborhood don’t hand out candy) AND THEY WERE ALREADY PUTTING OUT CHRISTMAS DECOR!! Fuck the War on Christmas, there is a real deal war on Halloween.

What, should I expect storm troopers any minute now, coming to take my pumpkin beer and demanding I take down my dead crow decorations?

I also don’t appreciate articles about SAD coming out in November. We’re not supposed to acknowledge our collective Seasonal Depression until January!!

See February for me is when the bleakness reigns supreme. Until then I act like it’s just individual rather than collective, and that it is a cosmic coincidence that I am hungry and grumpy and unmotivated each winter, every year.

      SAD: All winter er winter.

My dad’s brother, sister, and their spouses are on a plane right now coming to visit. I am pretty sure they have all emailed that same fucking thing (and worse things) to us at some point.

This week is going to be interesting.

The only place I want to see Christmas & holiday items before Halloween is at a craft store because people need time to make/craft that shit. Otherwise, everyone else can go fuck off.

Yeah, I started my son’s needlepoint stocking in June 2012 and finished it in November 2013. I was super slow for a variety of having a baby related reasons, but it’s the only Christmas thing I’ve ever bought before Thanksgiving.

Do you have links to kits and/or patterns? I feel like that could be a really fun thing to work on for a couple family members.
