Yes! Thank you! She has enough self-awareness to call herself out openly, and she’s still getting taken down a peg by all these comments. Can any girl win? Anything? At all?

Yeah, I have a hard time being snarky about this. She’s still pretty fuckin young, and the bulk of her followers are presumably even younger- maybe a few of them will stop trying to compare themselves to social media celebs.

O’Neill is now vlogging about her experiences with Insta-fame on YouTube.

This is really the most appropriate epitaph for this story. It could have concluded in no other fashion.

I have no idea about the sincerity of her post, but I do know one thing: it makes me extremely thankful that I came of age at a time when Facebook had only just begun expanding beyond college students.

        For real.

I would have been the most insufferable, self-aggrandizing, manipulative little fucker on the planet if I had had access to this kind of a platform when I was a teenager.

Damned right, my fiancee is only 4 years younger than me and can’t understand why I don’t chronicle my daily life on Facebook. She now does this for me.

My sole reason now for visiting Facebook is to approve all of her tags and answer my mother’s messages.

Thankfully, I seek validation through anonymous Kinja comments.

      No harm here.

Social media is the devil, and has a tendency to warp the minds of young women (and some men).

If you think I’m wrong, how many times have you posted a picture on Insta/FB and then checked how many likes it got? That’s not social sharing, or keeping your friends and family in the loop of your life, that is seeking validation and ego boosts through crafted efforts to attract the attention of strangers. That is fucked up psychology we should not encourage.

I’ve always found his “I have a seam” speech to be very inspiring, despite being so bikini-oriented.
