Vaping is the unsolicited dick pic of the real world - gross, but I appreciate knowing up front that I don’t want to meet you.

Yeah, why bother getting to know people when you can save all that time and effort by judging them on something superficial and meaningless?

Nay. There is a sensible reason for this new rule, which is that e-cigs were literally exploding inside airplanes—26 of them since 2009—when people left them on or the battery short-circuited.

So having these stupid things explode in the cabin, close to passengers is safer than having them explode in the baggage hold, further away from passengers?

I cannot believe I am about to appear like I’m defending vapejortsmen here, but luggage holds aren’t pressurized, but passenger cabins are.

Well they are batteries. Literally the same kind that are in laptops, electric shavers, and all kinds of other devices. I’d say calling them potential explosive devices is a little bit of an overstatement. Batteries can and do fail, and it’s best that if they do you are around to deal with it.

As others have said, it likely has to do with the fact the cargo hold is not pressurized or temperature controlled. It doesn’t seem to be happening in the main cabin (as often).

Weird, I had assumed the opposite would be true considering how quickly a person could start a fire with one deliberately in the cabin, or how easily one can be made into a discrete stun gun.

Vape Weed, in the privacy of your own home. No other vaping needs to happen. Vaping cig-juice flavored like hooker perfume seems desperate.

At least when I vape weed, only my family can make fun of me.

I vape weed, and I do it more or less in public. But not blatantly so. I’ll at least try to hide under something (like under a table). I might be part of the problem...... /west coast former east coast woman over here. still not over the novelty of things we can’t get easily on the east coast.

You’re all good. All that’s needed is some effort at not blowing vape in everyone’s direction/face!

I’m also OG from east coast and everytime I get back from the dispo with non-ragweed, I weep tears of joy :) What kind of utopia allows a grown adult to purchase high quality weed without risk of being shot or arrested!

The TSA is a fucking farce. All those dangerous explosives they take from us? They store them in a trash bin right next to hundreds of people waiting in line. They make us take off our shoes, while Heathrow - possibly the most international airport of them all - seems to not be concerned about shoe bombs. Now they want to move the exploding things from the cargo hold to the main cabin.
