I got to have the company of a Great Dane for 10 wonderful years. Absolutely fantastic dogs. Dumb as a box of rocks and completely unaware that they are larger than a Cocker Spaniel but as sweet and loving as they can possibly be.

My dane has no concept of where any part of his body is in relation to another. I’m always amazed that he doesn’t have any broken bones from running into random stuff all the time.

My mom’s Border Collie is smarter than most fraternity rows. It’s not always a good thing. That smug bastard.

Especially one running around on a man-made “lake.” Does she have a Scottish accent when she barks? If so it would complete this episode!

I house-sat a couple of Christmases ago at a beautiful house in the wine country in the Okanagan. They had a covered, heated pool and when I’d let the (six) cats out, that’s where they’d congregate. There was one who has the collapsing back leg syndrome I forget the name of, but she was somehow the alpha cat and she’d go out first thing in the morning, take up her station in the snow on top of the pool, and simply survey her territory until it got dark and she’d come in. I always thought she was smart, as no cougar (active in the vicinity) could have made it across the pool topper. Live and learn.

    Stupid cat.

That is an EXCELLENT pool cover. After years and years of helping my dad take care of our family pool and having our pool covers fail damn near every single year at the slightest blue heron stepping on it (hey, it happens), that’s the only thing I noticed about this video.

      The dog is secondary.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy you a great fucking dog and a swet ass pool in a nicely manicured back yard. Everyone who has ever said that is deluding themselves.

People who say money can’t buy happiness have either never had money, or are stupid.
