    As a Jew, I’m really not sure how to unpack this. I’m not religious in the sense that I go to temple or keep kosher or observe Shabbos ( although I may need to incorporate some of this due to JujyJunior), but I dunno if I like this. I don’t impose my views on other folks but this seems like a weird mix of celebrating this ritual and kinda shitting on it.

    Am I being too grumpy here?

      Yeah, it seems like she’s single-handedly trying to recuscitate 80s strip-club/aerobics ultra-high-cut bottoms. I don’t get it because they were kinda gross and tacky in the 80s, now they’re kinda gross, tacky and old-fashioned.

      He's the worst, but, I totally would too. And I even read the short story he wrote from the perspective of an 18 yr old NYU freshman losing her virginity ... to James Franco. It's as bad and as good as it sounds.

    I didn’t read the linked article so maybe I’m missing something, but... foreskin? Wat? If this is indeed a bar mitzvah, and not a brit milah, I’m not sure what a foreskin has to do with anything. But why am I questioning? I think I’ll just embrace this as a thing that has happened in order to preserve my sanity.

    OK, I have to ask: how important is it that converted Jewish men follow through with the conversion rituals, letter for letter... do you have to get circumcised if you’re intact? I’m uncut myself, and going cut sounds cray cray to me. This question is brought to you by Zac Efron.

      To give a very basic answer, if you’re going Orthodox or Conservative, circumcision is considered necessary. In Reform or Reconstructionist Judaism, you’re accepted as Jewish even without being circumcised. But it’s pretty controversial, even in more progressive circles, since this is technically a ritual that’s supposed to represent the eternal covenant between Jews and God, and thus is considered a pretty big deal.

      Zac Efron probably comes to the party pre-cut (Jewish). I’m not positive but I believe with an adult male it’s acceptable for the circumcision to take place under anesthesia.
