Biden, if he ever intended to run, missed his window. He got the build-up to the announcement right for a while, but his big night should’ve been Tuesday. Now, it’s too late. The lines are drawn and the press have their horse-race, at least on the Dem side, and it’s not really a horse race but a showhorse trot.

I think he’s one of the best VPs this country’s ever had (especially after the last horror show), but I think he makes a better #2 than #1. I hope he retires and goes out on a high note. Like Sanders, I don’t think he can win a national election.

Ok, folks, since it seems that Truuuump will be the GOP’s nominee, can we just draft Handsome Ol’ Joe for the Democrats? I can just imagine the debate...

    TRUMP: [yoooogest, classiest stump crap]
JOE: Fuck you, asshole. [drops mic, leaves]

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win a debate, the Biden Way.

I can’t imagine a debate with Trump going like the VP debate from last time. Trump possesses less shame than Paul Ryan, Joe’s laughter would just feed him.

I’ll always love Joe just for the Palin debate, where he kept that shit eating grin on his face for 90 minutes straight.

It’s pretty obvious what is going on here. Biden’s people are just reading the tea leaves from the Democratic debate the other night. And they are just proactively reacting to the paradigm shift that happened.

Is it only members of the media who have created the Biden candidacy? Is there anyone in the Democratic party who has been itching for a troubled ol’ white pol EVEN FURTHER TO THE RIGHT THAN HILLARY? Is Joe Lieberman no longer available?

Biden repped Delaware—that means he was one of two Senators for Everyone’s Credit Card Companies for thirty years. The left wing of the Democrats are going to brutalize him if he gets in at such a late date.

It’s going to be Bernie or Hillary. Socialism or the First Woman President. No old establishment white guy who gets a little “handsy” during photo ops! He can retire a statesman now, another race, a nastier race, and who knows . . .

The media has inflated Trump to his current prominence. They are also making Biden think he has a real shot in the hopes of tempting him into the primary and making it more dramatic and therefore newsworthy.

They’re doing Biden a disservice, though. He’s not an ideal presidential candidate for this year for all the reasons you name. His current high approval ratings would fall very quickly once he became subject to media scrutiny. The same thing happened to Clinton, but her approval rating prior to entering the race was much higher than Biden’s is now.

Clinton also beat him last time he tried. What makes anyone think he’d do better this time around? Especially with someone like Sanders in the race to attract the blue collar and union crowd.

The media would turn on him the moment he announced. Notice how we haven’t heard anything recently about his time in the Senate? Or Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas? He’d be joyfully pounded from the left and right by the same people.

    Bleh.

Everything people like about Biden will be destroyed by the disingenuous way he sidles into this race, if he does.

If I were him, I’d rather go out on top, winning — as one of the most popular Vice Presidents in modern history — than humiliate myself in another primary and general election that I might possibly lose, and go out as a flop, again.

(If he didn’t already have the track record of losing these elections for the big chair by himself in the past, he might be able to avoid that, but.....no — I think he should preserve his legacy and pack things up, unless something major changes like one of the two leaders flaming out. After all, what does Biden offer than none of the other Dem candidates have? He has negatives from each of them, and positives that are in no way unique. So why bother?)

I think I remember this from fourth grade.

Friend: “Hey, Joe Biden asked me to give you this note:”

        (reads note)

        “Do you like Joe Biden?

        • Yes
        • No”
