they believed it was being used by a Pakistani to coordinate Taliban operations.

So if their goal was to assassinate this one person, they couldn’t just enter the hospital and shoot him? They had to drop bombs on the whole hospital and kill 22 people instead?

Just saunter on up to the hospital and kill the guy, right?

Well, for the military, yes. Doctors Without Borders is probably not about to put up an armed resistance if a group of armed soldiers decided to forcibly enter the hospital and shoot a guy.

I’m not saying that would be the right thing to do. Obviously, the military should not be allowed into a hospital to take out a target. But I’m saying that’s a better option (if they decide they really have to kill the guy) than dropping a series of bombs and killing 22 innocent people.

Sir! Surely I must be mistaken but: Are you insinuating our brave, noble allies in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan might be numbered among our foes upon the field of battle? What slander be this?!

Impossible! Why, the US would never, ever give money to people who would immediately use that money in a manner contrary to our national interests! What, do you think our leaders are a pack of imbeciles, or something!?

I thought the videos published by doctors without borders themselves clearly showed heavy and crew-served weapons strewn amidst the burning wreckage? Was I hallucinating?

Doctors without Borders admits to having treated wounded Taliban fighters, though it maintains that no weapons were allowed in and that no one fired from within.

        WOW.

We should ask them how they are able to maintain a gun-free zone in a warzone. This could be the magic bullet that solves our own gun violence issue.

How about “We’re not treating you if you or your fellow fighters bring guns inside the hospital”?

of course, the u.s. knew this was a hospital. but this is just one more war crime to add to the considerable list of those already committed — and without fear of accountability.

        now that’s ‘exceptionalism’...
