    Because she’s not a titan of late night TV. Just look at the recent video about how many people in #1 market NYC can’t identify Chris Pratt. Now how many Americans in total do you think can identify Samantha Bee? Her show hasn’t started, it’s on after Conan in a spot where multiple shows have failed, it’s just absurd to think she should randomly be included.

      They commented on it in the accompanying story but it never occurred to them to call Samantha Bee for whatever reason. I don’t know what happened there, if it was poor planning or just not considering the issue at all.

    The comments nitpicking that her show hasn’t aired yet or that she’s too obscure... Even if she was the only one whose show hadn’t aired yet (she wasn’t) or she was the only one who was not a household name (she isn’t), so what? Why not make a fuss that Vanity Fair didn’t choose to make an editorial decision to give some coverage to a really funny woman who also has a light night show?

      They’re also finding increasingly ludicrous ways to justify the male hosts in the picture who were included even though they fit none of the criteria that Bee supposedly has to fit before she really “counts.”

      Just for arguments sake I know that her show hasn’t started yet. Had Trevor Noah’s run on the Daily Show started when the picture was taken (or at least revealed).

      I can’t say anything about the other women lacking as to be honest I don’t watch many late night talk shows (I forgot Mayer still had an actual job tbh).

        Trevor Noah had been announced but not yet started as host of the Daily Show at the time of the photo’s publication... which means it was planned and shot even earlier closer to his being announced.

        She didn’t say she photoshopped it on her phone, but just that it was on her phone. Maybe she did it on a computer and sent to her phone for wallpaper. Or a friend did it and sent it to her. It may be a bogus story, but it is certainly very plausible.

        To the idiot claiming “She’s not a titan of late night” here are the results from an informal poll I just conducted on Facebook that is totally scientifically sound:

        3 people are more familiar with Corden
        11 people are more familiar with Bee
        1 person is familiar with both
        2 people have never heard of either

        She’s as much of a titan as Corden or Willmore, and she probably looks better in a suit too.

          When Corden got the talk show, I was like “whaaaa?” Seriously, the only thing I had any knowledge of him in was Into the Woods. I watched the show once and I didn’t find him engaging at all.

        I really appreciate that she is so open about how mad and frustrating the release of the photo made her. I definitely think there’s a pressure for people to stay quiet when put in her position or issue some sort of diplomatic statement out that doesn’t ruffle any feathers (and there are a lot of sexist/racist/heteronormative/etc bullshit reasons for that pressure but that’s for another comment) so I really appreciate her frankness in saying how mad it made her and reaction that basically boiled down to “This is so ridiculous that I’m going to do something ridiculous to point out the ridiculousness of it”

        Also, that she just had that photo ready and waiting to go. *love*

        Edited to add: Oh my god, I just watched the “female as fuck” preview for her show and I love her even more now.
