      The reason people misunderstand and are confused by conservatives and the GOP is because they often forget the number one (and frankly, only) principle in a Republican’s mind, the one that shapes and guides all their thinking, and is responsible for much of what comes out of their mouth:

      The ends justify the means.

      When you examine the stupid, ignorant, offensive, brainless shit that they say in direct relation to this rule and the aims they are pursuing, everything sort of makes perfect sense.

      In this case for example, none of the blaring cognitive dissonance or irrational blather coming out of his mouth that would bother anyone else is even noticed, in his own mind. He is focused on his one goal, that of promoting his chosen subject. Nothing else matters, and therefore anything he says or does in the course of doing so is justified.

      Applying this principle to all conservative areas of thought or action, large and small, really explains quite a bit. Try it, you’ll see. It’s the single guiding light behind everything they say or do, and why they give zero fucks about facts or empathy.
