    Racial and gender inequality are just the tip of the iceberg. Silicon Valley is decimating the middle class, obliterating any such thing as job security or benefits, and is doing all this under the banner of improving the world.

    The CEOs are just as deluded and pretentious as any hedge fund manager, and their products are often just as illusory (did Facebook really add any value to anyone’s life, or did it just create the feeling that it did?). What’s worse, they refer to themselves as public intellectuals, all the while shitting on institutions of learning and any kind of knowledge that can’t be monetized.

    The more wealthy they become, the more politicians they will buy, the more they will change the rules to reflect their world view, the more fucked everyone else will be. Peter Thiel actually finds Star Trek too socialist for his taste.

    Make fun of me now, but in the decades to come we will find Silicon Valley more pernicious and dangerous than Wall Street. End rant.

    Are you a data scientist, Sam? If not, then you’re probably misreading the data. If you drill down into numbers you’ll see your diversity —by fraternity, sports played in college, color of frisbee used in Ultimate, hanging left/right, and type of mobile OS.

      I guess the 20% of the population group discussed that happens to be Asian doesn’t count as diverse?

      Not to mention, I’m sure the “white” group isn’t all “white” as we might think of it. I.e. where would someone of Pakistani origin fall?

    Is there any evidence that VC-level wealthy people of color are any less dicks that white ones?

    I’d certainly welcome more diversity in the ranks of people that wipe their asses with 100s, but would it mean any meaningful change for anyone or anything?

      I’m sure they’re still dicks. But a diverse group of people who dole out money are probably more likely to dole it out to a more diverse group of recipients.

      Very racist and homophobic day here at Gawker.

      One story says black teens fire off really gross and sexist insults on social media and even has a picture of the teen on the cover of the story. His name was Leroy or something.

      Another story says something about black African leaders buying some honestly pretty crappy things from bribes such as: BMW, rolex, other sitcom rich stuff.

      Another story says Anderson Cooper is gay, which he very obviously is but isn’t like something we talk about these days?

      And now this story celebrating white people success and smarts.

      Man enough already I’m tired.
