Who would watch this? Why was this child famous? Has modern cultural really passed me by?

Screw it, I’m checking out. If anyone needs me, I’ll be living in a tarp-covered hole in the woods.

I am constantly surprised by the number of “Internet sensations” covered here that I’ve never heard of. I spend an inordinate amount of time on the Internet, so obviously, I’m hanging out in the wrong spaces. In the old folks spaces, evidently.

Sometimes I feel insane trying to figure out something that has so little appeal to me (and that I’ve never heard of) can be so incredibly popular, and yet the Bratayleys have a combined 1 billion+ YouTube views, so I guess I’m just out of touch.

Am I the only one kind of disturbed by the fact that his own mother refers to him as a YouTuber before a brother or a son?

That caught me too. Of course, I don’t think I’ll ever understand a mother who would sell her children’s privacy, whether it’s youtubers or Kardashians.

‘Mysteriously dead'. Really? Why does everything have to be a goddamn conspiracy right out of the fucking gate? 13 year olds sometimes die and sometimes suddenly. I'd bet a ton of money there are probably 20 different illnesses that under the right conditions could kill an otherwise healthy 13 year old in quick order. Sometimes life is just cruel and unfair and fickle.

Not as much as this family. Links to buy their merch directly below the confirmation of their son’s death. Even that’s an opportunity for profit.

I’m not one to judge but she also sounds like, super detached. Idk. People deal differently. But I can’t imagine not being a wreck if my son just suddenly died.

He either died because he neglected to share a Facebook meme that said, “You will die mysteriously if you don’t share this meme.” Or, he shared it, but it didn’t garner enough likes from his followers to keep him alive.

“His incredibly funny, loving and wonderful spirit made us all fall in love with him as a YouTuber, friend, brother and son.” I don’t know, but maybe YouTuber should have been last on that list? Son seems like the more pressing category at this moment...

I'm hoping the statement was actually written by someone from Disney or an agent and just released under Moms name.

here’s hoping this is the real story: Kid starts to hate being an internet star, gives his parents lots of grief, so thay make a deal with him- If you really want out, you can fake your own death when you turn 13.
