The thing that drives me batshit crazy about this whole thing is that Apostolic Christians don’t believe that Catholics are real Christians! Why is she so excited to meet the head of the Catholic Church if she believes Catholics are going to hell?! (Answer: Because she’s an attention whore.)

What kills me about this is that a lot of evangelicals do not think Catholics are real Christians.

First of all, this woman doesn’t understand her own damn religion, because by their own standards, the Pope is going straight to hell for being and idolater, so.

Second of all, the Pope is the leader of Catholism. Do you know what he’s not the leader of? The United States of goddamn America. So you know how much I care about his opinion? Piss all, that’s how much. Fucking endorse her, make out with her, bake fucking cookies together on Sunday morning and bring them directly to the Pearly Gates for Jesus for all I care, this isn’t a goddamn Christian nation and I’m really sick and tired of everyone pretending like the fucking Pope having an opinion on Kim Davis matters. The Pope might not have endorsed her, but he certainly doesn’t think marriage between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, should be allowed, so he’s still a goddamned asshole, in my opinion.

Third of all, I’m in a real fucking grouchy mood today.

I wonder if “It was the fault of someone else in the Church, the Pope is still super cool” is basically just their letterhead at this point.

To be fair, I could totally see her being invited in a large group and him having no fucking clue who she was. I can’t see Nunciature going out of their way to invite a non-Catholic with a rather controversial position to meet him, especially when he’s specifically stated that he believes the church should not focus as much on abortion and gay marriage, unless some wires got crossed. At the end of the day though he’s not exactly an adovacate for gay rights even if he is better than previous popes.

Typically, heads of states don’t really get to use that as much of an excuse.

Baloney. You really think the people the Pope is scheduled to meet aren’t carefully vetted in advance, before they’re allowed anywhere near him? I’m sure his American staff knew exactly who she was and informed him as such. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Pope endorsed her actions, but then again he is a highly vocal opponent of marriage equality....

Kim Davis and her lawyer are lying liars who lie and the American Catholic Bishops don’t seem particuarly enamored with Francis, which makes this a perfect storm for bullshit.

Or, to quote Fr. Jim Martin (formerly The Colbert’s Report go-to God guide):

Meeting with the pope is a great honor, but it does not betoken a blanket blessing on “everything” one does. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Pope Francis also met Mark Wahlberg, and that does not mean that he liked “Ted.”

The pope did spend a lot of time meeting with prisoners without endorsing their actions. I guess it’s reasonable that Kim Davis being in the same room as the pope does not actually imply his support, just the interest of someone higher up in the church.

Not surprised Davis would be all over this as a sign, though. Anything to keep her in the news.

So, Little Ms. Kim lied. What’s a few lies after openly being a bible based bigot?

“While many Christians are outraged by Davis’ bigotry, the Vatican has done little but furtively support her right to be a conscientious objector. Pope Francis may be the coolest of the Popes, but he is still the Pope.”

Being a “conscientious objector” does not mean refusing to do her job. It means leaving the job after objecting to a part of it. This will probably point out how old I am, but the term “conscientious objector”became well known when Cassius Clay (who would become Muhammed Ali) refused to be drafted, voicing a a religious objection to war as a Muslim and an objection to the validity of the war in Vietnam. He went to jail for refusing to be drafted into the military and being required to kill, not for refusing to kill once he was in.

Kimmy seems to have missed that part of conscientious objection. She can object, but she has to also leave the job to be conscientious about it.

Othewise, she is just what she seems. A small minded bigot who hides behind her 2000 year old book of myths and legends. And one that lies about literally everything.

YES thank you. The pope’s “support” statement was as vague as it gets. It was a calculated statement to make sure he didn’t support or oppose her.

Of course she has the right to object, but as she broke the law, the law has the right to punish her accordingly. The only people who thinks this applies to her are those same idiots who claim “I have the right to free speech so no consequences for me”.

About Ali, he didn’t just go to jail. He was stripped of his title and didn’t fight for about 4 years. He walked the walk. Unlike Ms Davis.
