This whole thing gives me a headache and I’m not supporting her in the primary.

Sarah Palin got less shit for actually doing something worse with her email.

I mean WTF are we looking for? Is there some email in which she sold state secrets? I mean it’s not like she lied to the UN to get us into a war.

As the incoming Speaker of the House made abundantly clear yesterday, what they, not we, are looking for, is of course nothing at all, just a way to drive down Hillary’s negatives.

With the Clintons and the media, has it ever mattered?
What’s going on right now REEKS of “Monica-nee-Whitewater.”
It’s disgusting and it’s been going on for a quarter-century.

Just like the NYT. Don’t you guys get it, yet? Or, are you just going to keep allowing eggs to willingly be cracked over your face because you hate her? Aren’t you guys tired of being played for fools yet, or is the hate too strong?

When the Clinton’s spoke years ago of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” I disagreed with them. To be a conspiracy, there has to be a serious attempt to hide the attacks. You don’t even have to like them as people or politicians or even their policies to see this.

Find your bridge, media trolls. Or, keep overplaying your hand and making a martyr of her. It’s so crazy the media hasn’t learned even after all this years how this plays out with the Clintons. They keep this shit up and she’ll be Joan d’Arc by December.

I’m glad Sam is at least publishing this correction. But I don’t know why Gawker has overall been so uncritical of all these Clinton email-related ‘scoops’ that always end up being nothing but nonsense. The mainstream press has a known anti-Clinton bias.

Other liberal sites (including those that are more openly pro-Sanders than Gawker) have been pointing out that Emailghazi is a Republican plot to take down the Democrat’s strongest candidate for months. As Digby pointed out yesterday:

... Even if you loathe Clinton with every fiber of your being you should be concerned about this. [Republicans and the media] use these methods against anyone, just ask John Kerry or Al Gore. If you like Bernie or Biden don’t think they won’t find a way to get them with this stuff or that the press won’t eagerly swallow every tid-bit they give them if they sense blood in the water. The desire to get Clinton is even stronger among both the Republicans and the press, of course, because she and her husband survived the earlier attempt to destroy them and they are frustrated. But don’t think it can’t happen to any Democrat if the media decides to join in. Character assassination by a thousand cuts is their MO and it’s very powerful.

Assisting Republicans in destroying Hillary doesn’t help Bernie. It just helps Republicans get better at taking down all Democrats.

      THIS. FUCKING ALL OF THIS.

Any liberal who hates Clinton (and really, question why you HATE Clinton. She’s had her missteps, but not nearly enough to justify the level of hate some liberals have for her) needs to understand that Republican enmity would simply be leveled at Bernie if he is the nominee. No Democrat can avoid right-wing attacks or the media promoting them. Not one. Not Clinton, not Sanders, not Obama, not Kerry, not Clinton, not Gore. If they can turn John Kerry’s purple hearts into a negative or smear military amputees Max Cleland and Tammy Duckworth, they can attack and diminish Bernie Sanders.

So, you’re just gonna completely ignore the Gawker post titled “Phishing Of Hillary Clinton’s Private Email Linked To Russian Hackers” while calling out other news outlets for writing the same thing?!

Of course you’ll accuse me of bias, here, but that headline strikes me as much safer than the ones Sam is talking about. It specifically avoids using verbs like “target” or “try” that would imply specific intent by whoever originated the emails, and correctly identifies it as phishing, rather than some sophisticated hacking conspiracy. Just my opinion, but I think, other than the word “hackers” (which unjustifiably suggests the phishers themselves are Russian, rather than the server their script contacted), it avoids the pitfalls Sam’s talking about. “Phishing of Hillary Clinton’s Private Emai Linked to Russia” would be perfectly accurate, wouldn’t it?

Tricky one. It comes after the preposition ‘for’, so you think you should use ‘whom’, but it acts as the subject in the object of the preposition, so ‘who’ is appropriate.

Oh, and I had no cell service at the Toronto Film Festival. So dring all the waiting for movies to start, I found some old pdf reader on my phone and was reading the one free book on it (White Fang, better than I remember).

Anyway, every time I got into wifi coverage to check mails and whatnot, I’d have ads all over the place for the Kindle reader. My phone was ratting me out to Amazon that I was using another reader.

      Vote Bernie.

Sounds like the accusations and conspiracy theories continue to be bullshit, which means it’s now time for the press to move on to the real story here which is that Hillary Clinton totally failed to seriously deal with all this bullshit in the first place. Why didn’t Hillary Clinton just stop the Republicans from spreading bullshit about her? How incompetent and out-of-teach must Hillary Clinton be to even let this bullshit spread in the first place? Serious journalists demand answers!!!! Super serious. For real.

Wait Sam, weren’t you claiming something similar yesterday?

Gawker has been one of the main voices proclaiming something dangerous and/or sinister (the story changes day-by-day about whether we’re supposed to be upset because private email is dangerous or sinister) about Clinton having her own email setup when these investigations find over and over that there is nothing wrong, illegal, dangerous, or unprecedented about it.

I get those stupid traffic violation ticket things all the time. So are the Russians trying to hack into my email? Get ready to be bored to death, Vlad.

The email from Anne Marie Slaughter to Hillary sums it all up pretty well.
