Now, you stop, Sam. You know this whole Hillary email thing is a just a big nothingburger! It’s just a vast right-wing conspiracy. Lots of cabinet members do it, you know? Now, we just need to be good, little progressives, stop this “feel the Bern” nonsense and rally behind the future Quee - I mean President of the United States...Hillary Clinton!

If you think a “socialist” can win over the “undecided voter” in November, more power to you.

Oh good god. Still a nothingburger. The probable next Speaker of the House flat out admitted that this whole email ‘scandal’ is purely about hurting Hillary politically. This is from an interview Kevin McCarthy did on Fox:

MCCARTHY: ... What you’re going to see is a conservative speaker, that takes a conservative Congress, that puts a strategy to fight and win. And let me give you one example. Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened, had we not fought and made that happen.

Recall that Emailgate came about because of the Benghazi Committee. The reason it keeps going is because Republicans and the media are hoping to find a semen-stained blue dress and, I dunno, preemptively impeach Hillary.

Well it apparently doesn’t matter. Unless all those fingerprints and background checks and applications were on her server too of course.

Not that I have any love for Clinton, nor am I defending her, this is purely my sarcastic asshole nature at work.

This private server was probably the one place the Chinese didn’t think to look. So in other words, well played, Madam President. Well played.

Did anyone see Clinton on Meet the Press on Sunday? Chuck Todd asked a lot about the emails, and she kept shrugging into a populist “now I’m no computer expert” excuse. I get that she’s tired of talking about it, but it was bizarre to watch her revert to that kind of language.

Still better than Carly Fiorina’s showing though.

This Trump tax plan probably would have been a plan Obama could have supported if forced to negotiate with a GOP Congress.

      Hillary: jes’ folks. Yup.

Mus be the same tone she uses if asked about her Young Republican days, volunteering for the Goldwater campaign.

Does anybody ever ask her about that? Or her once-upon-a-time tenure on the board of that institution beloved by liberals: uh that is I mean Wal-Mart.

I have a feeling a lot of Gawker readers may be too young to remember the first go-round with Bill. Or the 2000 election and what the press did to Gore.

A newly released email from Clinton’s State Department days shows the prospect of Chinese infiltration was literally a joke to her.

Yeah, I bet none of us ever make a joke about something we think is actually genuinely serious in another context. EMTs, you don’t ever joke about death, right? Infantrymen, you never joke about IEDs, do you? Writers, you never joke about lawsuits, not ever, right? Because if you do, Sam Biddle has an intimation to make about you that he’s not bold or dumb enough to make directly.

Thank you. Has anyone ever heard doctors talk about patients in private with other doctors?

Gallows humor is a thing. It helps you blow of stress with your peers. It doesn’t mean you don’t think its a serious issue. In fact it means the opposite - the jokes are funny explicitly because you both know how serious of an issue it is. That’s why you laugh nervously at a joke like this that most lay people wouldn’t realize is funny.

“The biggest problem with Hillary Clinton’s off-the-books email server isn’t the affront to transparency, but the incalculable national security risk it presented.”

Wait, just a few lines later, you link to an article showing that US government servers were hacked by the Chinese, with very sensitive data stolen. Yet you’re saying it was a national security risk to keep her emails *off* U.S. government servers?

But we NEED to blame her for all the scenarios that didn’t happen anyway. I mean when is she going to answer for the fact that aliens could have blown up the Hoover Dam? That could have happened and she needs to answer for that.

Sam, this is silly. Her regular State email and her personal email are both unsecured, both required to carry only unclassified documents, and both subject to FOIA and relevant public record laws. If the Chinese want access to her regular, unclassified State email, they can put in a FOIA request or wait for the Benghazi committees to release them.

No, that’s why they’re trying to fault her on the “potential” of getting hacked. The greater irony being that some state dept emails were hacked while her anonymous Gmail was not. her own “private” brand of secrecy probably kept her communications more secure but her rivals will find a way to turn this into some malicious story.

If someone managed to hack her e-mails, there wouldn’t likely be much evidence to uncover. The Chinese managed to keep the OPM hack unexposed for months or years, despite the fact that OPM had a secure server . . .

But there is apparently new evidence that the Russians tried, multiple times, to hack Clinton’s server. https://twitter.com/AP/status/6493…
