We really gotta get the Biden 2016 grassroots campaign going pronto so we can get him into that first Democrat debate and her on the ticket as his running mate.

Ummm, no? She can be Bernie’s running mate. That would be a force to be reckoned with.

And lose her leadership in the Senate where it is sorely needed? Naw. I’ll pass.

If we end up with Hillary or a Republican as president, I’m going to be very, very pissed at Warren for not running.

She could sweep up most of Hillary’s support and almost all of Bernie’s. She'd waltz to the nomination.

I just realized I once worked for the mutual fund managment company that sponsored the report that the guy resigned over.

Well this was 98/99. I temped there for about 6 months. They’re HQed in LA but have an office in NYC in Rock Center. They had literally just expanded to a second floor when I was there but it was a relatively small office, maybe about 60 people at most. Some of the people were kind of weird, especially the office manager. Like most finance places, some of the higher up people are psychotic and tend to throw tantrums but the company will put up with it and the never ending turnover of their staff.

Gawker used the idea of scalping to define what a senator who identified as Native American did to a lobbyist/researcher? Then half-assed an apology without removing the phrase? Seriously?

Serious question, as I’m not an American and don’t understand the subtext, but who cares about this and why?

It’s a derogatory expression used to paint Native Americans as ruthless savages. The practice has historically shown up in movies portraying “cowboys and indians” in a very unfair light.

This morning reminds me that I am proud to have voted for Elizabeth Warren and embarrassed that, due to my grandparents, I was brought up a Catholic. Fuck the homophobic pope and his band of merry child molesters that he protects.

“I love Warren and Sanders! Finally, people really speaking the progress we need! That’s why I’m going to vote for Hillary!” — Gawker Commenters, 2015

It’s not the ones “throwing their vote away” that are holding this country back, it’s the cowards constantly defensive voting for Conservative Lite as the “safe” bet while shouting down anyone who actually has the spine to vote for their principles.

This would be a great morality tale except for the fact that Litan did not resign over the fact that his research was paid for an interested party

“I learned there was discomfort with the Warren letter, and I did not want to add to it,” Litan said in an interview. “I said, ‘If it will make Brookings more comfortable, I’ll resign.’ ”

Sounds like Warren’s letter definitely did factor in.

Clearly Litan’s report is tainted from the get go, but I also think it’s pretty good practice, regardless of who the President is, to take any estimates produced by the White House Council of Economic Advisers about the benefits of administration sponsored policy changes with a pretty good sized grain of salt.
