Court records show he will appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 19.

what a weird way to spell “will leave the country via private jet, never to return”

Yeah, what fucking idiot judge looks at this case and doesn’t remand for flight risk?

      Fucking horseshit.

Some judge who knew that he could get 300,000 dollars for a cash strapped city. (Should have gone for a cool million. The prince would have paid it.)

There is such a dehumanizing arrogance to these guys. They view people as objects and what does an object exist for, but his pleasure? Not saying that this (alleged) creep is also guilty of it, but they’re having a pretty big problem with these guys drag racing their Veyrons through the neighborhood, blowing through stop signs at 140+ miles an hour then claiming “Diplomatic Immunity”. When the cops can catch them because, Veyrons. (they tend to have covered license tags)

Oops. Veyrons were a Ft Lauderdale menace :(

(and the last couple of racers were from Qatar, not Saudi Arabia.)

$300,000 bail? It’s good thing he doesn’t have the means to flee the country, it would really hurt for a Saudi prince to lose that kind of cash.

Aaaand nothing will come of this, that is if he even sticks around. If we have proven anything, it’s that rich people have a different set of laws. Really rich people even more so.

In other news, CNN is reporting that John Boehner is resigning in October.

I do not care for Speaker Boehner, but there goes any semblance of order in the House.

Exactly. He had to resign because his own party would have removed him for not agreeing to a government shutdown over trumped up videotape. I fear who the next guy will be.

the timeline is confused. The LA Times article isn’t much clearer, but suggests she was seen trying to climb the wall during the afternoon and the police came that same afternoon

He is 100% not on a private jet back to Saudi Arabia right now. He will definitely be at that hearing on the 19th.

Or that kid who’s facing beheading and crucifixion for taking part in anti-government protests when he was 17. Ali Muhammed al-Nimr, I think. The world is so disgustingly cruel and unfair.

Holy shit, something similar happened in India a week or two ago, where a Saudi ambassador was found to be enslaving two Nepali women and beating them severely and raping them. And unfortunately, he did qualify for diplomatic immunity and their govt invoked it, claiming false allegations.

Capitalism. None of these idiots would get anything without money. Their status - among their friends and in the world - is utterly worthless without money. At least we have that on them, as for the most part people work to make something purposeful of their lives, despite the completely unnecessary and illogical limitation of access to resources around which the vast majority can never actually work within context of a system this dysfunctional.

If foreign diplomats are subject to our laws, then our diplomats would be subject to the laws of other countries...countries like, say, Saudi Arabia...

Naw - we're doing that by destroying neighborhoods and the water table with fracking. Don't get me started on tar sands.
