The Obama Administration continues to harass hardworking business owners. The desire to make a simple profit now deserves jail time? While our conservative leaders are asleep at the wheel, the socialists are winning the war for America’s soul. If a man cares to sell peanut butter covered in rat shit, and he can find a buyer, more power to him, and God bless his entrepreneurial spirit.

That’s Liberty and that’s America, which our government seems to have forgotten a long time ago.

“this is not a murder case”...“These acts were driven simply by the desire to profit and to protect profits notwithstanding the known risks,”, so if I kill someone for he insurance money it’s not murder? Right, gotcha.

That depends. Are you rich? Are you white? Are you an executive? If the answer to all three is yes, maybe!

Though he deserves more time, depending on how much he actually serves, it could end up being a life sentence, which is great (though I have my doubts about how much of that 28 years he’ll actually spend in prison). There was another recent case with the CEO of Carson Helicopters was sentenced to 12 years following a crash that killed nine firefighters. Even if the sentence isn’t harsh enough, it’s nice to see these assholes getting actual, meaningful time rather than just fines and probation.

Federal sentencing. 28 years means he will serve 28 years.

The only way he gets out early is in a coffin.

He's got the money to appeal. All it takes is a sympathetic judge and a less-than-enthusiastic prosecutor during the appeal (or dumb; I've seen dumb, too).

AKA the job CEO’s are expected to do by both shareholders and the language of the laws defining C-Corporations.

Yep, he just lost the game of roulette. More often than not, you don’t get caught and if you do, the fines are often less than you profit.

Thought it was a bit harsh, read more about the case, fuck this guy. He basically didn’t care if people would die as long as he could save a buck. Willful manipulation, not lazy negligence. Glad to see white collar criminals get harsher punishments. Now for 99% of other court cases for white collar crimes to go this way...

The judge should have given him the ultimate punishment: make him and his company pay taxes in addition to the sentence. That would really send a cold wind through Board Rooms across the U.S.

Sounds like GM with their ignition switch, which has killed 174 known thus far, and not a single executive went to jail. He should have bribed more politicians

WTF. Peanuts are all over the place. This guy has no family?

It never occurred to him that someone he actually cares about (assuming such a one exists) might ingest his poison nuts?
