And twenty-three states have allow rapists to sue for custody rights if their victim gets pregnant.

Well, if it was a legitimate rape, she wouldn’t have gotten pregnant, now would she have? Ladies bodies have a way to shut that whole thing down.

This is why I am so ambivalent about insisting that young women report sexual assault and harassment. Sexual violence is costly no matter what. But the people I’ve known who ended up dropping out of college or graduate school after their assault or being harassed weren’t worn down by the trauma of the event itself. They were worn down by the process that began with reporting. And they were consequently set back years in terms of being able to being their professional careers, or in some cases ended up saddled with massive debt and no degree. There’s something terribly opportunistic about powerful women (i.e. Hilary Clinton) who tell women who, in many cases, have nothing to make their voices heard. Justice is cold comfort when you can’t support yourself. Additionally, justice is improbable. Men who talk about how life-ruining it is to be accused of rape are flat out inverting the truth. Male students accused of rape recover spectacularly. You will never see a male student accused of rape voluntarily drop out of college. He will fight to be there because he believes he deserves to be there. And if he is kicked out then he will go somewhere else and rebound.

I’m with you 100% up until your last few sentences. I don’t think there’s any evidence whatsoever that male rape victims fare any better than female rape victims.

Abortions are awesome. They gave me a pill beforehand to counteract nausea so the abortion procedure was the first time in weeks where nI didn’t feel like I was about to vomit and the very next day I stopped feeing like shit and got out of bed and went romping through nature and shit with a renewed zest for life. I’d love to get in on abortion’s advertising team because Jesus fuck I’m a huge fan.

Scanned through the linked study, but didn’t see it (and don’t have time to read in-depth) - how to they get to the lost “quality of life” cost? That’s an awfully subjective number.

It’s not though.... it’s a well-tried method used in Tort law, and there are tons of calculations that go into it. It’s not like they’re just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks. Tort claims very often deal with monetary calculations that are “subjective”, through standardized formulas.

When I was attacked and beaten by a parter, my college would not allow me the time-off from classes to put the fucker in jail. I then failed two courses and had to take sumer school ($$$) pay the legal fees that never paid off because I was threatened with failing (which they did anyways). AND has to pay all the medical bills to sew my teeth back into my face ($$$$$$$$$$$) Thanks Universities for siding with those who need it.

Jesus, as if the rape itself wasn’t already bad enough. This is terrible. I need to watch the Winnebago Man get out some rage to lighten the mood.

I like this video, but I am still not about Ultra Violet as an organization. “Oh look, sales and editorial are not mixing! THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG HERE.”

      Nope. Its called editorial independence.
