The high contrast/bright lights/whatever is the aesthetic of this photo makes it basically impossible to tell that Trevor Noah and Larry Wilmore are not white dudes.

I bet Bill Mahr is just over the moon about being featured in this. His slimy, shticky bullshit needs the cover of young, liberal fun-poking to seem even half-way acceptable.

I play a game when I hate-watch his show where I use the caps from beer bottles to count every time he says something sexist or racist, in his classic “I’m just joking, guys” way. It’s a good night when I don’t get past three. Usually it’s about six or seven caps by shows end though.

My least favorite part of his show is when he makes his guests sit there and fake laugh their way through that terrible “new rules” bit.

And as the VF piece mentions, Sam Bee and Chelsea Handler are soon to debut shows (for the latter, “again”). Hope isn’t entirely lost for white women.

      So, buck up, white women.

Did Amy turn down The Daily Show? I thought Jon just joked that he should’ve thought to ask her.

      http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/...

“I was so honored to be asked and considered. With Comedy Central, I project so much ‘You’re my parents!’ on the network and the people that run it, so them saying, ‘We believe in you and trust that you can do this,’ I thought, ‘Oh my god, thank you!’”

“And then I thought, ‘Well, I could give everyone I love a job and we could all be together for five years. But picturing being in a building and knowing what I was going to do for five years—I love not knowing. And I’ve never done anything safe or to make money for that reason. So, you know, I said, ‘I can’t start now.’”

Amy Poehler also declined. Perhaps they should’ve asked some lower key women, someone more on par with Trevor Noah, rather than those who are already superstars.

His interview with Vice President Biden was pretty gut-wrenching. It was a soft ball interview, but they spoke at length about the Vice President’s late son. V emotional.

His comedy has been neutered and he’s now approximately as funny as every other late night host. So...not really.

    didn’t get past this:

Late-night comedy has seen a disorienting—some feared fragmenting—shuffle over the last two years as Jay Leno, David Letterman, and Jon Stewart gave up their chairs. But, writes David Kamp, a mix of new faces, shows, and platforms has only revitalized the format.
