    As an only black friend to many white people, not sure how I feel about this. That said, I offer my critique on all of the suggested gifts:

    One-Year Subscription to SoundCloud Pro ($55)- I have been informed that I am old and corny. I do not know how to maximize that particular site. Give me a gift certificate to Amazon instead. I like CD’s. (See above: Old and Corny).

    Your Face In Mine by Jess Row ($11)- I get it, but why would I want to read that? Looks like something for you. You need to get it. How bout a book report on your thoughts and feeling after having read it? Not so sure that’s a gift.

    BAE, the Black-Singles Dating App (Free) - I’m not feelin it. Why limit myself to black dudes. I’m a multicultural dater. I would rather you set me up with a friend of yours who reasonably has his shit together and is looking to settle down. Online dating by all accounts in soul crushing.

    The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Seasons 1-6 ($77) - I will take this gift. Also see: Cosby Show, Different World, Living Color.

    The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander ($13) - Already have a copy in the house. I can’t read too much of it before I want to run down the street and punch random white person. Aren’t gifts supposed to be things I wouldn’t buy myself? This is not a gift. How bout a pedicure? Massaging crusty feet always wins.

    A Canvas-Print of President Obama Riding a Unicorn ($10) - Only if autographed.

    In short, your list needs work. You don’t know me at all.

      Well, as most of the list is produced by the descendents of people who are owed back pay (because according to Texas, slaves=workers)...no.

      I’ll take my portion in gold bars. Currency changes for the relevant time period 1619-1865 could be problematic so gold standard it is!
