    God, this makes me sad for a whole number of reasons. Mostly the insistence of somehow equating scientific, accurate terms with sex or or sexiness sexuality.

    But what really makes me actually, genuinely ANGRY is that this dipshit was given every opportunity to keep her precious little flower from reading the book and still, STILL she insists on trying to rob the experience from every other child in the area.

    Sit the fuck down, lady. Not everyone in possession of a vagina is terrified by a reference to one. How the fuck did you think you had your son in the first place?

      1) this book is fantastic, I could barely put it down. A great insight into a lot of difficult topics

      2) Skloot makes a good point on the nature of news reports. I turn on the national nightly news and they’re covering that anti-gay loser in Kentucky as if she actually has a point rather than just a tantrum. I don’t care if your viewership is anti-gay retirees, not all topics are balanced conflicts and it’s so dishonest and damaging to constantly make everything into one.

    That book is simply phenomenal. I don’t even care that this lemon-sucking troglodyte is having a hissy fit about it. I’m just delighted to hear that it’s being taught in schools. It’s exactly what you want kids to be exposed to in formative years: ferocious, unflinching, compassionate and demanding of whip-smart critical thinking skills. It’s a bomb in book form. If you haven’t read it, treat yo’self.

      Oh, man, it was a real pain to get home, too. I got stuck in Denver for 3 hours longer than anticipated on a layover and got home at 2:45 am, and it was 72 degrees in San Francisco, which is insane. But home nonetheless!
