We believe strongly that the City would have ultimately won the case.

Translation: We believe parody is illegal.

“You better stop making fun of me. I’m the MAYOR OF PEORIA, goddammit!”

Fortunately, this whole affair has now been laid to rest and Jim can get back to the serious business....of running Peoria, IL.

Edit: This would be funnier if self-important knobs like this didn’t have the power to disrupt someone’s life ‘cuz his feelings got bruised.

iirc, their angle was that it’s “illegal to falsely portray a government official” in Illinois.

I don’t think you’ll get a settlement. He is (probably) not stupid enough to fall for that twice.

Let’s not forget this guys poor roomate got arrested in the “raid”:

“Four iPhones, an iPad, two XBoxes, and four computers were confiscated, but ultimately, Daniel was not arrested. Jacob Elliott, his roommate, was not so lucky. Armed with the drug-friendly search warrant, cops seized a “large gold gift bag with five sandwich bags containing a green leafy substance,” and arrested Elliott for pot possession.”

Also, this is the face of a man who has absolutely no sense of humor:

The idea that someone can have the home of another raided for the crime of typing shit on the internet terrifies me. Surprised this story was missing gun shot victims. And that whole sorry not sorry the city thinks the city would have ultimately won? I can’t even...

A decade or three or four ago, this was a cautionary tale that said “beware, fix this before it gets worse”. In 2015, this is a cautionary tale that says “good luck, run and hide, because you were warned, and the dangerous idiots have won”.

I’m only shocked by this cretin because, well, I’m not really shocked anymore. And that’s scary.

We believe strongly that the City would have ultimately won the case, but the reality is it would have cost the City several times the amount of the settlement in order to win in Court, and as a result, settling early was the soundest fiscal strategy for the taxpayers.

Absolute bullshit completely refuted by law, precedent and any sane standard of jurisprudence.

Additionally, the mayor should be on trial for malfeasance under color of office and be kicked out on his ass.

I just sent the mayor a nice little message via his contact page advising him of the legal definition of parody.

I may also have referred to him as a humorless twat who would require three wreckers to extract the stick from his nether orifice, and bemoaned the fact that he wasn’t in the dock for blatant, fascist abuse of office.

(Clearly Mayor Ardis is too thin-skinned to play anywhere else).
