The war in Iraq was wrong. The war in Ukraine is wrong. This is the 21st century. Our grandfathers and great grandfathers fought and died so that we could find better ways to settle our differences than war. Will we ever learn?

Their grandfathers and great grandfathers died for the same reason too. It’s part of human nature. When one side wants something badly enough and can’t take it peacefully, they resort to violence. And Russia historically has always seen violence as an acceptable way to expand their borders.

I agree that they aren’t showing much regard for human life, but history isn’t a flat circle. The Russian state is a criminal conspiracy, which is bleeding the Russian people dry. Putin doesn’t really care about empire: he needs to distract the population from their internal problems by making a show of standing up to the West. He’s more like Karl Rove than Peter the Great.

I still can’t get over American hypocrisy about this. Like, lol, The War in Iraq, we are still dealing with that shit. It is funny to me.

I still don’t think that Americans realize how much the Iraq War cost us in terms of international standing, and it’s good to separate it from the Afghanistan War, which was justified by any historical standard or current international law. The invasion of Iraq was based on lies and nonsense that too many people, even among the intelligence services, knew were lies and nonsense. Yet, having said that, to compare our actions with Russia over the last how ever many years is ridiculous. They fought an exceptionally brutal war against Chechnya. Grozny was utterly wrecked, and the only reason the regions is pacified now is because they have one of the true madmen of the world in charge, and I do not mean Putin. This invasion of Ukraine has deeper historical meaning for Ukraine than you or I probably imagine. We have to understand the Ukrainian peoples’ history with Russia. Not even 100 years ago, Stalin pursued a policy of deliberate famine against Ukraine, and it was basically only surpassed by Hilter’s mechanization of murder, which Stalin no doubt envied. Anyhow, because we did wrongly and stupidly in Iraq should not be an argument against doing right by Ukraine.

You can pretty much go ahead and call this a Russian false flag, since that’s obviously what it is.

How: Russian/Russian sympathizer tosses a grenade outside parliament.

Why: To make Russia’s opponents look like terrorists.

Interesting how we only speak of “appeasement” these days in terms of our Middle Eastern adversaries.
