I’m not an expert, but I can’t think of a more reliable way to determine public opinion than a random deli clerk’s memory of radio call-in listeners talking about Trump that one time.

One that is serving a white customer CLEARLY gunning for Trump, also. Its like when your grandpa says the N word and everyone slowly backs away because you could tell him he’s a racist, but that will just start a shit storm so you just make him think you’re listening and then try to get him to go talk to the people in the next room. Something tells me Peggy’s thanksgivings have a lot of her grandkids backing slowly away from her.

So I guess all the latinos that love Trump must be concentrated in New York then? How odd...

I wouldn’t put it past them to troll. I mean, they could be the Latino version of the Gawker commenters who’d like Trump to get the nomination so that the GOP implodes. I’m Latina and I am not above such schadenfreude. Of course, I also know it could be potentially catastrophic for millions of people (Latinos, Black, White, Indigenous... the entirety of the human racial spectrum) if he gets elected so I am rather careful what I wish for. Political entertainment is fun until it isn’t anymore and an incompetent, bigoted clown achieves real power.

If I was american I might have considered the vote-trolling thing a month or two ago, but now it just seems too...scary. I mean, Trump was supposed to have been done for about three times now and yet he’s still ay ahead. I’m starting to think he could actually pull this off somehow (not just the nomination, but the elections itself) and that TERRIFIES ME.

My friend—the one who works the deli counter at the grocery store.

I cringe when out of touch folks reference their diverse array of “friends” in this manner. All it serves to do is illustrate how painfully out of touch they truly are. Not to mention that it’s patronizing as all get out.

If you’ve never had contact with them outside of the place where they’re paid to put up with you, they’re not your “friend.” Simple rubric.

As a Latino, I too favor Trump. I want Republicans to be forced to embrace him or run from him.

That said, I’m a liberal independent who wants to see the Republican Party burn until even its embers go dark.

Saw a poll yesterday that showed Trump leading all candidates including Hillary among legal immigrants.

    Peggy Noonan’s friend “Cesar”.

Later she wandered over to the condiments aisle and to see what Mrs. Butterworth thinks about the Pacific Trade deal.

Here’s your turkey, Miss Peggy. Should we call a cab for you? You really shouldn’t walk around the city when you’ve had so much to drink. I worry you’ll fall and hit your head again.

No, Mr. Reagan hasn’t been here. Mr. Reagan is dead, Miss Peggy, remember? I told you that last week.

The problem with call in shows is that for most of them the kind of people who typically take the time to call in are ... weird.

“My friend Cesar — I assume his name is Cesar, but that could just be the name embroidered on the deli-counter smock they all wear . . . Anyway, I was asking Cesar if he could please turn down that radio and why they always talk so loud and fast on that station . . .”

I’m excited for Peggy’s column on Monday.

“So I was walking down my street the other night thinking about how awesome trickle down economics are when I decided to peer into my black neighbor’s window. He was watching Law & Order reruns from the Jesse L. Martin seasons—a black detective! It was hard to make out what he was saying to his wife from where I was crouched in the bushes, but I’m positive he mouthed, ‘I certainly don’t have a problem with policing in America today.’”
