    Has law enforcement released a verified picture of the shooter? Because I see a lot of folks circulating a picture of a brown-skinned Black man who looks nothing at all like the blurry image in the video. Incredibly irresponsible (though I suspect not an accident).

      Miz, the guy posted a ton of pictures of himself from throughout periods of his life over the last ~2 weeks, and then posted videos of the shooting from his own POV. I don’t know that there’s been a law-enforcement verified picture, though. I’m not sure if that answers your question.

    As someone who works at a TV station this stuff scares the living shit out of me. I sometimes thought it was ridiculous that we have to have badges to get anywhere in the building (a pain when you forget to bring it that AM) but I totally get it now. Our GM sent us an email this morning saying we can come talk to him about it anytime if we feel compelled to.

      Oh yeah for sure. I remember when one of our AEs quit they confiscated any company property and locked him out of all email and other logins ASAP, and I get it now. They escorted him out of the building fast too.

    I realize that the shooter is a black man - assuming the social media accounts are actually his - but can we still discuss mental illness? No person of sane mind films himself murdering two people, feels justified in those killings, then posts the videos for everyone to see. We can agree to that, right?

      I think the word you’re looking for is “asshole.” If you can draft and fax a manifesto, then dress yourself, arm yourself, disguise yourself, drive to the scene of the crime, capture video of the crime, post video of the crime to a social media site, get back into your car and drive across the state - yeah, you may be mentally ill but “insane” is a little too absolving.

      Not working in the profession, I may not use the right terms. But this man clearly has a capacity different than that of mainstream society - the faction of us who say “we don’t handle disagreements in the workplace by murdering coworkers. What the fuck is wrong with him?!” So insane may not be the correct term: sociopath then? I don’t know. I don’t care. Let’s just not make him a monster; let’s keep him human and discuss the problem.

      I watched the actual shooting video because I am a bad person. He hits Alison what looks like... 2 times and she’s still fighting to get the fuck out of there. Her death definitely wasn’t instant.
