      Years ago, on April Fool’s Day, a Canadian talk show had an “engineer” on to promote, straight-faced, a scheme to detach Nova Scotia from the mainland, and float it down to be moored off the Florida coast — giving Canada its own warm-weather province. Surprising how many people fell for this.

    OMG this gives me flashbacks - when I was a kid, this family lived on our block and the dad had crazy eyes. He also kept a houseful of reptiles. These people were not well off financially, and they had like 4 kids. He had literally closets full of snakes and shit. He had a bowl with an exotic frog and he’d say “Watch” and stick his finger in and the frog would bite him and make him bleed. He also had two of those GIANT turtles in the backyard, the kind you would see at the zoo. It had to be illegal.

      My roommate lived in a similar house in South Dallas. His dad bred snakes and used them as theft deterrents. The gangs never messed with them because he’d just carry huge snakes around all the time.
