I can’t decide if working eight hours a day to comb through someone’s work emails looking for ANYTHING of interest would be like a treasure hunt or binge-watching Frasier.

Mostly you’d search for key words or phrases using a script. 99% of the stuff will be uninteresting trash and people, for the most part, don’t speak in code in emails they think will never become public.

I really, REALLY hope the 8 hour day includes breaks, paid-for college credit and minimum wage+ because no interns should have to experience that kind of torture.

I just don’t understand why she is running. She is polarizing. People HATE her. I personally feel sort of “meh” about her and don’t think she is worthy of hate. She’ll be predictable- nothing interesting will happen. She’s a centrist establishment candidate. So I don’t hate her, but I don’t see anything about her worth getting excited over. I’d vote for her before any of the clowns the Republicans are offering right now. As far as I can tell, this is generally the way Democrats feel about her. Who is eager and excited for a Hilary presidency? I’m sure there are some people, but I think the majority of opinions run from hate to meh.

AND- why is this country suddenly run by people who are all related to one another? Why do we need ANOTHER Clinton or Bush? There are hundreds of millions of people here, and we keep electing the same families? It makes no sense from the Democratic Party’s point of view. They have some good candidates right now. They could run Elizabeth Warren or go out on a limb with Bernie Sanders. Even Biden and Lessig have some people excited about them. I just suspect that the Clintons have called in all the favors to guarantee it this time- they have a lot of power in the party. Which shouldn’t surprise me, but it really annoys me anyway.

Yes I totally used this article as a place to rant without request over my morning coffee. Blah.

I totally agree with all of this. That’s exactly how I feel about her. I’m not as excited about Sanders as my other progressive friends are, either. Maybe I just feel like it’s leading us down a path where we can’t win, he’s too left/hippie/whatever. But I’ve probably just been watching too much coverage of the tea bag/right wing crazies talking about their trumpy love. I am disturbed by the email, but that’s because I work in defense and I can’t even tell you how big of a deal they make the classified stuff- it’s drilled into your head that you would never transmit it on a unclassified system, never.

I don’t know much about the email thing, but I also never assumed that someone with her hands in that many pots would be totally up and legit about all her communications. It’s sort of “well duh” the Clintons are involved in all sorts of foreign affairs.

Sanders can’t win. That’s not a reason to be excited about him. But he should be a serious contender or else run on a third party ticket because we need more left/hippie/whatever candidates to be a part of the political discourse- doesn’t mean we want them to actually be president. The entire field is moving right (has been for some time) so that leftist discussions aren’t even able to happen seriously. We need candidates like that to pull the political discourse and the Democratic party a bit to the left. Right now, we have a Republican party that consists of far right candidates and right of center candidates and then a Democratic party that consists almost entirely of centrists. There is almost no one even left of center. I was reading something recently about Regan and first Bush’s policies, and how these days they’d be considered left of the current Democratic party on many issues.

But regardless of that, I’d like there to be a robust debate and field in the Democratic party with several candidates actually discussing things and bringing fresh perspectives. Maybe that’s naive, but it seems pointless to even pretend to have a democracy if you can’t expect that much. Instead, we just get Hilary- centrist status quo, long entrenched in the system, establishment candidate- with no opposition at all really. Frustrating. Then, to make matters even worse, half the country (Republicans, mainly) HATE her. I mean HATE HATE HATE, blood in their eyes HATE. What they’ve done to Obama- opposing him on everything, slandering him (not that I think he’s great, but certainly the Republicans spin everything he does)- that’s nothing compared to their response to Hilary who’ve they’ve hated for GENERATIONS. They’ve been hating her for like 25 years. Why in the world would the Democratic party allow someone with THAT much hate who causes that much polarization to become their prime candidate, especially considering she doesn’t even generate enthusiasm or fresh ideas within her own party? UGHGGHGHHGHHHH!

This is great news. Maybe one of the emails will tell us what she got for Donald and Melania off of the wedding registry. My guess: shrimp forks.

So she legit has possession of these servers? That’s pretty crazy. That seems incredibly secure to me for no other reason than _what politician has actual server blades in their freaking residence_.

‘eh, something like an email server can happily live on an old dell with enough harddrive space as it doesn’t require much in the way of computing power.
