Don’t breath a sigh of relief—and definitely don’t breath in—just yet: even though its not an infectious disease, the Times reports catching it can be as easy as walking by contaminated “air-conditioning systems, exposed overhead pipes and other common features of urban life.”

Ok, maybe breath—the CDC says many people exposed to the bacteria don’t get sick, and those who do usually have some sort of pre-existing condition.

    BREATHE!

I can forgive a lot of grammar/usage mistakes but the breath/breathe and loose/lose ones give me itchy crawly skin.

It is amazing how much I loved the father and how much I hate the son.

I hate to bust your bubble but you might want to reconsider your love of the father. The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree. The father was just better at distancing himself from his dirty tricks. http://gawker.com/5980856/ed-koc…

I am well aware of the dreadful ‘77 campaign of Cuomo’s (which also included him physically assaulting Koch right before a debate). Mario, unlike his son, seemed to actually learn from the experience and become a much better man afterwards. Andrew, who ran a dreadful campaign in 2002 against Carl McCall, didn’t. He lucked out with the Spitzer/Patterson fiasco and was the only big Dem left so he could slide into the Governorship. Andrew also seems to have gotten all of his father’s negative attributes (temper, etc) and none of his good attributes (a genuine compassion for the poor, eloquence, etc). Also, Mario was a steadfast supporter of unions, teachers, the working class, minorities, etc. Andrew couldn’t give a damned about them unless they serve his political purposes and regularly stabs those he makes deals with (specifically the Working Families Party and fellow Democrats) in the back the first chance he gets.

I am not excusing Mario’s behavior in 1977, but one has to take someone’s entire life and career into account.

I bet 4 or 5 years ago Cuomo thought he would be running for President this year.

No problem, 4 years from now he will be running against president Trump with the slogan of the lesser of two assholes.

There is a good chance in 4 years he will be in Prison with the rest of Skelos, Silver, Smith and about everyother person in NY state government.

On the one hand, I want to learn, and on the other hand, I want to take a red pen to nearly every instance of ‘breath’ in this article and change it to ‘breathe.’ How the hell did this go live?

“It strikes anywhere there’s water—including ‘in apartment complexes, office buildings and even on a cruise ship.’”

If I had to guess where a disease can be commonly found, my answer would be especially on a cruise ship.

I work in the cooling tower industry (secretly attempting to infect everyone NYC), and the Opera House Hotel is the least likely culprit to be the initiative of this large outbreak. After reviewing the infected hotels, I’m fairly confident it was the hospital that began the outbreak. It was the most neglected and largest tower, as opposed to the well maintained and annually cleaned Opera House Hotel tower. Test any cooling tower in the city, and it will have legionella growth. Straight from the ASHRAE Standard hand guide, chapter 12-2000 is called “Minimizing the Risk of Legionellosis” - not eradicating the risk.

The politics are ridiculous - someone please fire up the machine to shoot out the asbestos-like law suits.
