This had nothing to do with drugs and everything to do with exerting power by sexually assaulting this woman. This is so beyond fucked up. And yet another instance where some power hungry asshole is backed up by his peers. This female cop didn’t stop and think “this seems illegal and totally rapey, maybe I should say something?”

In all of these stories that have hit the news lately, NOT ONE of the police officers displayed an ounce of humanity. I’m going to go ahead and operate under the assumption that every single one of them is a sack of shit until proven otherwise.

I cannot conceive of any circumstance where a roadside body cavity search would be necessary or okay.

I suppose there is the hypothetical of knowing that the person has explosives on them but you can’t find them might be an exception.

I don’t even care if the person consents to it. Nothing short of the cop having reasonable suspicion that a weapon, explosive or some other substance that could be used to harm people in the immediate vicinity should ever justify one.

I’d say there is no doubt that this was a sexual assault. I have family members who lived in Harris County. I hate that place so much. It’s the asshole of Texas.

I don’t care what they thought their purpose was. Forcible touching/insertion is ALWAYS assault. Fuck them so hard.

I actually dont really understand how all cavity searches aren’t sexual assault. The entire counter argument seems to be “well yeah, but its really important we find stuff”

    This is rape.

    UCR definition:

Definition of Rape is: “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”

rape is defined by state statute. still seems like rape (sexual assault) according to texas’ statute, which is here if you’re curious: http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE...

How can being held down, having your legs forced apart and having something forced into your vagina be anything other than rape? That woman is so young and black too, I can’t imagine how frightened she must have been.

I’ve tried it. Mostly they just think “who is this weird negress talking with a fake british accent?”

One cop thought it was funny as hell as he wrote my ticket though. Still wouldn't write it down, but he was laughing.

[Corley] admits hesitating. Deputies say she resisted.

Who the fuck wouldn’t hesitate and resist? I just ... I can’t. That poor girl. :(

Exactly? Who wouldn’t resist?? Jesus fucking christ, they were raping her.

And the “resisting” part is such bullshit anyway. If you resist against an illegal act, does that make you in the wrong?

“Corley stood up and protested, so the deputy threw her to the ground and restrained her while another female was called in to assist. When backup arrived, each deputy held one of Corley’s legs apart to conduct the probe.”

that’s a gang rape. there’s no set of circumstances in which that is justifiable.

    also,

(Where the marijuana was found is not specified.)

how with all the graphic reporting, is that factoid missed?

Probably because they planted it. If it was in her vagina, they would have said so in their defense.

It was a half a gram. A half a gram of pot. That’s like ten chocolate chips worth of pot.

ETA: Maybe five chocolate chips. It’s not a lot of chocolate chips worth of pot.

Lol, and people still want to act like their isn’t a difference in how the races are treated by the government. Horrifying and dehumanizing should be the new service motto of the police.

True, but did you hear the details of the story. She was held down by officers and had a hand inserted into her. The devil is in the details. They dehumanized her entirely and turned her into an object to be prodded absent of rights.

Reviewing today’s events: White 20-year-old male drives stoned, takes silly selfie with his arresting officer. Black 21-year-old female suspected to be in possession of weed is restrained, has police officer’s hand forcibly inserted into her vagina. is raped.

I’m just struggling to understand how not one but apparently two sheriff’s officers concluded that doing a roadside cavity search was the right thing to do. It's just so incredibly insane to me. Like the first officer has this brilliant idea and the second one says, yes this is of course the correct thing for us to do. I don't get it.

I think to make things worse there was a third since the article said another female officer had to be summoned to help hold her legs apart. I can’t even imagine.
