Shania reportedly met the man, Paul Aronson, through SeekingArrangement.com, a dating site “where beautiful, successful people fuel mutually beneficial relationships.”

This has me a bit...how do i put it....

Nowhere in the story does it say he was trying to have sex with these girls. But i can’t help but wonder what the purpose of the liason was. According to the NYT article...

The twins came from a troubled family and had lived for some time in separate foster homes, their lawyers said. They were 17 when they were arrested last October.
Mr. Aronson contacted Shaina Foster on SeekingArrangement.com, which advertises itself as a service connecting well-to-do men with young women, an online forum “where beautiful, successful people fuel mutually beneficial relationships.”
On their second date, Ms. Foster brought her sister along. The three dined at an expensive restaurant in Midtown, and Mr. Aronson invited the teenagers to have a drink with him at his townhouse on East 38th Street.

So we’ve got an old dude using a website to hook up with underage girls and bringing them home to his apartment. Now i’m not saying he deserved to be tied up and robbed. But I am wondering what exactly his end game was. And I suspect I know and it makes me...oh how do i say it....

So, wait — a rapey old man takes two underage sisters out on a date that’s supposed to lead to a “mutually beneficial relationship” (read: they suck his dick), they rob him (obviously traumatic and terrible), but there’s no consequences for this man? Couldn’t the authorities have said, “Wow — this is terrible all around. Old man, you should have known better, and, you kids obviously need some help” and done something — anything — different that charging these girls?

  Also note they were 17 when this occurred. I think what happened to this guy was punishment enough, but that still doesn’t mean his behavior wasn’t super-shady.

  Like seriously call the old man a fucking creep because that is what he is, but there is absolutely no indication that he has ever done anything remotely close to rape. In fact we don’t even know if he knew they were underage.
  
  Also leaving a 84 year old tied up is really fucking close to leaving a person for dead. That shit is cold.

wow, that is much worse than I had assumed from the headline/beginning of the article. I thought this was going to be a simple conned-him-out-of-his-money situation, which is of course awful, but how horrible do you have to be to tie up such an old person and leave them for dead. Seriously, it’s a wonder he didn’t have a heart attack or something.

  oh for sure. I guess what I meant was the headline didn’t specify that website at first, and you could easily imagine a situation where maybe an elderly person (male or female) of that advance age might not be quite as in control of their faculties, if you know what I mean.
  
  But, yeah, this man def sounds like a sleaze but I still think leaving him tied up like that was beyond the pale. No doubt all parties were looking to exploit each other in some way (which I might personally find distasteful, but as long as all parties are okay with it???? Idk, whatever, that’s their prerogative) but leaving an 84 yo like that is akin to leaving him for dead. I guess I just wasn’t expecting that to be a factor.

“Find your sugar baby,” the site exhorted its users.

And about that night:

He bought a bottle of raspberry-flavored rum from a liquor store on the way, a defense lawyer said. But instead of receiving caresses or whispered flirtations, Mr. Aronson ended up tied to a coffee table for 20 hours.
“He asked to do things I wasn’t going to do,” she told Detective Darryl Ng at the 17th Precinct after the girls were arrested on Oct. 21. “He is ugly, old and disgusting. I tied him up. I took his money and left. He was starting to creep me out.”
Before he was tied up, Mr. Aronson had given the teenagers a tour of his townhouse and let them play with his tiny dog, a Yorkshire terrier named Muffins, Mr. Kennedy said. Then he poured them glasses of rum and asked them about their sex lives.

Not saying that makes any of this okay. It’s gross all the way around. It’s just some extra info.
