Well, the good thing about this is that his career will soon be over. 1) he is not going to be president (barring some really weird shit happening). 2) he is never going to be reelected governor of NJ (again, barring some really weird shit happening).

Our national nightmare will soon be over (with respect to this yahoo at least).

At a certain point, a mental health professional needs to sit down with Chris Christie and talk with him about his fixed delusion that he might one day be President of the United States.

It’s all a smoke and mirrors swan song so he can go out as a Presidential contender, and not just a disgraced governor. He knows, we know it. Just a few more months of this charade, and then maybe a memoir (after some talking head auditions).

By the way, is Gawker on fire today or what.

“single most destructive force in public education in America.”

I’d argue that they’re the second- right behind the Republican party, but what do I know.

“Knowing” isn’t something that the Republicans value in their constituents; now if you can manage “Following Blindly” then you may have a home with the GOP.

Apparently nothing if you think the Teachers’ Union has anything but the smallest of complicit roles in this.

Wow, fuuuuuck this guy. My wife (and my father, as well as both my wife’s parents) are teachers, and coming from someone who has seen the hundreds of unpaid hours annually, easily hundreds (occasionally thousands) of dollars out of pocket, and the sheer level of dedication to educating our children that teachers put in, how can anyone who either has kids, or wants the US to stop scraping the bottom of the barrel in education support this asshole?

I’m not Pro-Union, I’m pro teacher & outfitting our kids the best we can...Since the rise of the libertarian movement in the GOP, the entire party seems to not only prey on the easily led, but push policy to keep most of their “base” poor & stupid. Gone are the days of moderates/social or fiscal conservatives, it has simply become the party of those disillusioned by life, those so bitter with the system that the overwhelming message to anyone that disagrees is, “Fuck You, I’ll do what I want! ‘Muuurica”

Anyone up for a little anarchy?

Edited to let that grey douchebag know I’m not getting involved, go back to your bridge. PS, That “Dismiss” option is GREAT!

The thing is that the teacher’s unions in NJ were getting out of control. As someone who A) Lives in NJ, B) Strongly believe in unions as mechaisms to prevent mgmt for unchecked changes/authority, and C) Strongly believes in teachers (I count 8 in my/my wife’s family) the combination that became the NJ Teacher’s union was very, very toxic. I can’t speak for the other states, but the NJEA lost its way a long, long time ago, and it needed someone to just say no.

Christie has worn out his welcome in the state, and his bully-mentality has grown old, but considering the tire fire that Jon Corzine left behind, it was an overall positive 7+ years.

The real agenda here isn’t anti-teacher — it’s anti-public schools. The GOP right wing doesn’t really believe we property-owning folk who can afford to send our kids to the private school of our choice ought to be taxed to support a decent public eduction for other peoples’ kids.

He was actually Romney’s first choice for Veep, and Christie was on board... But Romney’s folks, who did the vetting, apparently found waaaaaay too many skeletons in his closet (very quickly) and he was scrubbed from the list....... So I’m doubtful Jeb! will even consider him jokingly.....

So this (along with economic stagnation, mis-spent emergency funds, and fealty to the Kochs) distinguishes him from Scott Walker only by waist-size. Although, beleive it or not, Christie has an education (though he’s loathe to display it), whereas Walker is a college dropout.

He went to Delaware- Newark. Is that really an education? Might as well be a drop out compared to Columbia and Harvard Law (Obama) or Wellesley and Yale Law (Hillary).
