Immolation must certainly be the worst possible way to exit this world. I have a running fear of being pinned in a car and it catching on fire. I’d rather drown.

For years my brother told me about a car accident he witnessed where the car caught fire and the driver was trapped inside. It stayed with him over 30 years, and I can remember him telling me over and over how awful it was to witness and became a fear of his, probably the biggest. 5 years ago this is exactly what happened to him. He survived, but needs a caregiver now, which I am. You cannot imagine how many times this went through my mind the entire time he was hospitalized. It is the worst way to go.

I went to a college with a large aviation program. Students could learn to fly and also fix planes. All the drunk, dumb, and dipshit aviation technology majors who were too drunk, dumb and dipshitty to get jobs at major airlines as mechanics ended up at small regional airports working on small planes. My memories of their all around drunk, dumb and dipshitty behaviors are why I won’t fly in small planes.

One supposes it’s too much to hope that the Lion Killing Dentist Bastard was aboard returning home.

What is it with small planes and crashing this week? Do they know something we don’t?

Small planes (non-commercial) crash a lot — over 1000 a year. And, unlike car crashes, they nearly always make the news, even when there aren’t fatalities, so hearing about a few fatal crashes a week is just par for the course.

I always thought that whenever you hear of a plane crashing, like 99% of the time it’s not a passenger jet - it’s one of those small private planes. Which is why I avoid them like the plague.
