    In reference to the Shia post, as a naturally aggressive person who has had to train myself not to respond the way I feel innately, I can understand how it might feel like a person is pushing you out of your comfort zone into another realm. HOWEVER, it’s not a good idea to talk about killing folks and domestic violence as if it’s the fault of someone else. If I EVER put my hands on anyone (which I don’t and haven’t) it would be because I CHOSE TO. Not because they “made me.”

      Yeah, that’s kind of my reaction too. There’s a world of difference (for sane people) between being able to acknowledge “my animal brain would like to harm this person” and actually harming anyone. That level of self-knowledge, in someone with a hot temper, is valuable, and not something we should condemn; people (men) who seethe with rage and can’t even acknowledge it to themselves are far more dangerous. Being able to recognize when your buttons are being pushed and then removing yourself from the situation is a valuable skill.

      The part where he blames her is indeed not okay, though.

      They never “made you” because you’re not an abuser. That’s the number one excuse abusers give. As someone with the same aggressive tendencies as you, my understanding is that it’s up to US to curb our aggression and channel it in a more productive way. It’s no one’s fault we are the way we are, and we shouldn’t burden any one. Though Shia doesn’t know that.
