Over the last week, I keep reading political think pieces talking about how inevitably Trump is going to bow out, either when his poll numbers dip or when he doesn’t seal the Republican nomination. And there is an absolute air of desperation and wishful thinking to it. Like you can almost see a bunch of Republican pundits and operatives sweating profusely and tugging at their collars going:

“Yep, he's going to drop out soon..............Anytime now........Aaaaaaaaaaaanytime at all........"

They keep getting their hopes up by Trump making statements about how he doesn’t need the nomination and could run as an independent

I don't see how that would get Republican's hopes up. If anything, I think a third party run for Trump would be more disastrous for conservatives than just outright letting him have the nomination. At least if he had the R nomination they would have the R base in the bag and then could at least try to do some damage control to try to bring in enough moderates and middle of the road voters to win the general. If he goes third party, there goes a sizable chunk of the base which would potentially put the Republicans over the edge to squeak out a victory in 2016. And theres just not enough moderates that would go R for someone like even Jeb Bush to make up the difference.

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”

Can we also just mention that not all of us Jewish folk are short? I’m 5’9”, which isn’t tall, but not short.

“Our great African American President hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore.”

So Trump admits that Barack Obama is an African American? Well, there goes his esteem in the Republican base.

Not really, Trump’s just the kind of dullard who’d call Kenyans “African-Americans”.

Has Trump actually presented any ideas or plans to improve the things he talks about? 90% of what he complains about came from Republican philosophies such as “trickle down” economics which have ravaged the country. All I know about his politics is I think he wants to build a fence between the US and Mexico, wants to punish Mexico, and probably wants to cut taxes on the rich.

It’s really old to hear Republicans complain about how the whole country has gone down the toilet, while it was their policies that did it, AND hear that they want to continue or even expand on those failed policies, then try and attribute decades of decay on a few years of Obama.

He has had two other proposed solutions. Rectifying NAFTA, where he would walk in the room and renegotiate, because “I’m a great negotiator” He has mentioned the bombing of the oil fields in Iraq as a way to defeat IS. Which oil fields doesn’t matter just bombing them will do the trick I guess.

His evaporating brain will come up with more I'm sure

I don’t care about his relationship with the African American community. I want to see him improve his relationship with reality and self-awareness.

Last ditch effort to hit the GOP before you are shut down?

If you think ANY of this hurts him, you are wrong.

I can’t imagine that it feels real good to be the president of the young republicans student chapter on a college campus right now. It sounds like a non-sequitur, but I think this does appeal to a specific, older, republicaner (mostly) segment of the society. I think it’s going to ultimately drive millennials to abandon the republican party even quicker.
