    Ah remember back in the day when the only time you could get caught cheating is if you and your old lady liked Pina Coladas?

    Cheating == Bad
    Financial/Emotional Blackmail == Evil

    2 wrongs != right.

    The site may be wrong and some of the people on it morally corrupt, but this is a terrible way to deal with it.

    I don’t condone hacking and publishing data like this, but...

    I wouldn’t be sad if Donald Trump was one of the names released.

      To be honest though, I’m sure Melania is well aware of his dalliances and stays in the marriage (and got into it) for the notoriety and $cashmoney$. If Trump was publicly caught, the toadies who approve of him now would still worship him (someone has to buy those self-help/financial growth books) and he and his wife would stage a nauseating, televised PR piece (who’s the conservative version of Diane Sawyer?) and the Donald would continue to...Donald.

      Everyone already expects that sort of behavior from Trump, though. The biggest surprise would be if he didn’t cheat on his wife with some unfortunate pageant participants.

      I would laugh my lungs out if one of the holier-than-thou presidential candidates was on that list, but if they cheat they probably do it by taking advantage of people working on their campaigns.

    People joined this site for some outside fucking. This data release would just be another form of it. A bonus round, if you will.

      Hmm. My husband had a profile on Ashley Madison (we have an open relationship) but abandoned it a while back in favor of OKC and other more fun alternatives. It’s not like we have a ton to lose if his info did go public (I doubt he’s even using the same credit card these days), but on balance I’m not happy to consent to this particular fucking. Even if it turns out to be just a mild groping.

    No matter how much I hate cheating, extortion is fucked up. This is no better than what gawker did a few days ago, lest we forget.

      Not gonna lie. I have an account! I made it when I was desperate and alone. I am waiting for other shoe to drop. No guilt. No shame. Then I realized that being someone’s side piece wasn’t the way to go esp. if I wanted AtTenTiON. Stupid way to learn the lesson, but hey! It’s what I did.

      Also FYI, there are legit single people on the site (like me who link up with other singles) and people who have permission of their spouses.

    Doxxing is never okay. It’s amusing to me the people here who think it’s fine to doxx a group that bothers them or that they have a moral problem with.

      Am I the only person that knows open couples that have used this site specifically for relative anonymity?

      I mean, if you make an OKC or Match profile for dating, you can potentially expose your relationship status to a ton of people, and the open couples I know would really not prefer to have to answer to the moralizing of a bunch of busybodies (we live in a pretty conservative area). So yeah, cheating is bad and all that, but the glee and righteousness that people have over personal data being published without consent is overwhelmingly ironic, especially considering that these same people were on here screaming when Gawker did the same shitty thing last week.

        Yeah, I’m (one half of) one of those couples. I never used these particular sites but my husband did. I sort of operate on the assumption that nothing that happens on the internet can ever be considered truly private, so I’m not floored or scandalized, but the unrelenting glee from some corners at what amounts to a pretty standard evil privacy breach is a bit baffling.

      No sympathy from me for this. Nothing against the cheaters, but why would you put your real info on a site like this? Especially knowing how easy it is for these sites to be hacked? There’s like a new hacking every month. At this rate if I were one of these people, I’d have changed all my info. They had to know this was likely to happen sooner or later. Oh but you trust the site security? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (someone call Channing Tatum to finish this)

      It’s like what I kept telling my ex about his dumb friends, who think they’re slick enough to get away with random crimes. There are cameras watching you everywhere. Especially ones you can’t see. Why even bother doing the crime?

      Same for this. Why even bother putting your info out there on a site like this? That’s just asking for trouble. I’m actually surprised this is the first time it’s happened. I’m sure there were probably multiple attempts or smaller hacks they didn’t reveal. Hard to believe this is the first time.

      Although if it was my guess, it was probably a site user that did it, because he needs to cover his cheating ass.
