      Seriously. You know why this country has a DUI problem? Because outside of places like Chicago or NYC where alternative transit is plentiful, there are so many places where a car is the only way to get home and Uber and cabs aren’t a thing.

    Years ago I read a biography of Axl Rose (shut up—it was my childhood!) and at one point the writer talked about the nadir of Axl’s life, before they got signed: He was so poor and desperate that he actually had to OMG FUCK A FAT CHICK just so he could have a place to crash and a shower to use. The writer treated this event like it was the most shameful thing anyone could imagine. Ugh ugh ugh.

    Tangentially, the thing about going to bars and looking to hook up is that guys shouldn’t drink too much because alcohol is bad for your libido. The difference might be marginal for a younger guy, but as you age, you start to notice that shit really quickly.

    That’s why on nights that the wife and I probably going to Bone City, I don’t drink. I save my drinking for nights where I get to do whatever I want because she’s out with friends or doing her own thing or whatever.

    Some folks say “drinking alone is depressing” and I think those folks are just crazy. Do you know how fun it is to read a pulpy spy novel or play a video game when you are hovering in the zone between buzzed and drunk?

    Fun. Lots of fun. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
