    That statement was already super disingenuous even before you put “really” after it, Sam.

    Anyone who’s read the account (and I have no dog in this fight and give zero fucks about any Reddit faction), knows that it wasn’t about the size of his own office, which is clearly what you’re trying to make it sound like. I hate to defend anything having to do with Reddit, but come on, can we at least pretend to try for accuracy instead of dumb sensationalism?

    He actually left over “a disagreement with the board about a new office (location and amount of money to spend on a lease”)

    So, yeah — office building ...not his own office space. (really)

      The board wanted to move to a posh area of San Francisco, which would have forced all of the employees to try to purchase homes in San Fran. Wong suggested a less expensive and still accessible place with more reasonable housing prices, but the board wanted prestige.

      I’m failing to see anything wrong with Biddle’s original statement. He never implies that he left over his own office or its location.

      And for the record, leaving a company because of a dispute of a new office building and the lease thereof is still pretty damn idiotic. I’ve been a part of quite a few relocations and lease negotiations, and there are almost always disagreements—a couple execs want this neighborhood, a bunch of other execs want that neighborhood; the VP of marketing wants this modern new building, the board wants the classical building down the street. I’ve sat in boardrooms while grown men and women shouted at each other over shit like that.

      But Jesus, I’ve then watched those grown men and women shake hands and have a drink and move the fuck on. I’ve never seen someone fucking resign over something like that. I assume (and hope, for Reddit’s sake) that there were other circumstances surrounding it, or that there were many other disagreements between he and the board on top of that, and they just used the building lease as an excuse for his departure last time. Because someone who throws and tantrum and leaves a company because the board disagrees with his preference for an office building is not someone you want running a company.

      As funny as the whole idea of an illuminati level conspiracy like this is, wouldnt this be a good thing? Huffman and Ohanian spinned the entire thing so they could take their work back. Doesnt that mean the fight is over and reddit might actually be a better website now (unless they have yet to finish kicking out the unsavorable members of the reddit team)?

        That’s myopic. If this were true, it means reddit’s leadership team have no qualms about screwing over everyone and everything around them - even after those people made them millionaires many times over - by teaming up to renege on key provisions in their acquisition.

      is it me or does Pao not seem to understand sarcasm here? at least the use of the “/s” in this context...

      i understand her reacting thusly “how is this funny?”

      what I can’t understand is how it works when you put a “/s” tag, which indicates “what I just said was sarcastic”...

      it’s sort of like that sarcasm indicator on the robots on Interstellar

      “/s” is usually used when the sarcasm is not implied, however i can’t understand a framework where in this case, the sarcasm wouldn’t be implied

      either the sarcasm is implied or not...and then the /s tag sends it into full confusion

      i really think Pao just put that there to look like a techie
