    Can someone explain to me why there is a dildo and butt plug flag at a Pride parade? LGBT has nothing to do with sex toys any more than the hetero community does. It's mocking what we have achieved.

      Studies keep showing that same-sex couples are significantly more likely to use sex toys than hetero couples. Lesbian sex usually has strap-ons, and the gay male couple who abstains from anal sex is rare, while hetero couples can’t even manage to make cunnilingus a given. It’s largely queers who’ve pushed for quality, safe-to-use sex toys and lube. And there’s a long history of sex radicalism within the lgbtq community. Given that Pride is, for many lgbtq people, a chance to denounce more assimilationist rhetoric and take pride in our sexuality, our sex radical history, and let their freak flag fly, I’d be shocked if there wasn’t at least some dildos and butt plugs imagery at a Pride Parade.

      I remember defending their coverage of the Boxing Day Tsunami. CNN sent their considerable international assets to comprehensively report the massive tragedy. Every other cable news outlet had talking heads sitting around a table agreeing that stuff was bad and stuff.

      I can’t remember defending them since. Let’s call it a decade.
